@GoranFerenc
@GoranFerenc 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes it is! :-) If your concerns are about duration of marimba notes vs duration of beams being interrupted, it's because marimba sound is just as it is, a bit short. So, if you still hold your hands nothing is going to happen (no sound) till the next time you break the beams again.

Thanks Adam! Well, although this video was posted almost two years ago, I haven't led this version of a harp to it's final stage. So, this harp's implementation is still in R&D phase (software and hardware used here aren't ready for some complete manual). These days, I came back to this project and I'm currently working on adding some new stuff (for instance, adding accelerometers on player's hands to control more MIDI parameters, something like I did in a video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIC2Z3qHlNt3i9k). However, I can help people with some advises, tips and tricks. Just send me a private message on this channel if you're interested.

Goran Ferenc Thank's for responding, even though the video is so old! I think I may try and make something like this, I really like electronics and stuff like that, and this would be awesome to make! I have a question, as well. What kind of laser did you use? I assume you used only one laser, and the beams are really solid, which must have took a lot of fine tuning to get it perfect.
@GoranFerenc
@GoranFerenc 8 жыл бұрын
The laser is a 400 mW green laser module that includes power supply board, driver board and laser itself. The laser module has TTL modulation capability in order to turn on/off laser fast (between successive positions). The principle of how things work is in video description. Just one note, for better visual performance you need a fog machine, because the visibility of laser beams are increasing with more particles in air.
@GoranFerenc
@GoranFerenc 8 жыл бұрын
Regarding fine tuning, it's not a big deal. A galvanometer module for laser scanning is a quite good choice. I suppose you will not have any issues using step motors as well.
@AdamYarris

Hi there.. We built a laser harp ourselves and mind blown after seeing yours.. Would there be any way I could get a system schematics from you? I'll even donate some funds to you if so.. thank you so much!!
@GoranFerenc
@GoranFerenc 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark. I don't have complete (full) documentation and schematics for the laser harp I built, since I added few things and fixes along the way during the development itself. However, I can help you with some information and knowledge I've picked up. Write me to goranferenc@gmail.com and we can continue conversation that way. PS: No need for any donation/money, so feel free to send me that kick-off e-mail and I'll try to respond asap. Also, it would be good that you send me some info on how you built your version, so I can maybe help you from that side, as well. As you already know, there are several methods/ways on how a laser harp could be implemented :)

Hello @GoranFerenc! I have already received the Kontrol-3D EVO Kromolaser. Now I'm exploring its capabilities. I'm thinking of connecting the Kromolaser to the KORG microsamler to use any sounds!
@GoranFerenc
@GoranFerenc 9 ай бұрын
Hi @@maxmoog5150! You can use the Kromalaser's USB port and connect it to your PC. Using any DAW PC software (such as Ableton or Pro Tools) you can assign a MIDI track for your laser harp and add a variety of virtual instrument to generate the sound type you like. I haven't tried the KORG microsampler, but if it can receive MIDI/USB messages from external devices and has samples to be triggered (which I assume it can), that could be one more possible working setup.
