Greetings! I got this box as the emergency unit. I want to use iPad as the 100% sound source, but this is still fresh to me, and this box serves me as the backup. Then I feel more stable (onstage). May be it's slightly better sounding unit, as my beloved, still working Yamaha TG-100.

I have tried a piano box pro the sounds are horrible, samples produced distortion an every sound have a different volume in the patches, in the b3 hammond sound is the distortion not a big problem, I have send it back to the store, and ordered nou the midi plus, the one u have in the review thanx.

Hidden/not so known stuff: - It can receive signal from USB and MIDI IN at the same time so you can play two keyboards, or with someone else - Parameters you can modify by specifying your midi CCs for knobs in your MIDI controller: Chorus effect, 93. Attack, 73. Decay, 75. Release, 72. Resonance, 71. Cutoff, 74. Vibrato, 77. Vibrato rate, 76. Vibrato attack, 78. Portamento on/off, 65. Portamento time, 5. Mono synth, 126 (0). Poly synth, 127 (0). Pan, 10. Sustain pedal, 64. Sostenuto pedal, 66. Soft pedal, 67. - Channels memory: If you choose a channel, edit the sound, and then go to another channel, you can edit a different sound and then return to the initial channel. That gives you 16 "custom patches" per session. - Its battery can not only make the synth work and power your MIDI controller but also charge your phone.

I’m thinking about a looping/busking guitar set-up, that also has a mini-midi keyboard with rhythm pad sounds to work into the loops. I’m not expecting too much, no Carnegie Hall shows, or Apple studios recording session gigs…ha, ha.

It has almost the same sounds of the Roland sc-55 maybe the quality is even lower, but you can tweak the VCF, whilst you can't in the sc-55.

Did you find anything you liked better? I was magnetized to the Dexibell because the sound samples are so long and I'm looking for a killer piano sound on stage. But the price is so, vastly different, I can't get my head around one over the other? I guess I'm willing to give up a little quality for a less pricey product.

Very nicely done overview -- had been wondering if this wou;d work for my daughter so she can play midi keyboard w/o computer; this would fill the bill ok, if not great. Why doesn't anyone make a nice external VST host or something? Subscribed.
@DJKlemStudios3 жыл бұрын
Glad I could help! Thank you for the kind words. Actually, a couple of companies have tried the external vst host thing... I think the advent of really powerful (and portable) laptops killed that idea.

Now that Arm chips are becoming the normal in computers and VSTi sdks are becoming compatible with Arm I’d wager we will see another better , cheaper attempt at standalone VST players soon . In the mean time I got a micro pc ( or a compute stick ) for $50 and a 10” touch screen velcroed together sitting on the blank spot of a midi controller lol .

Thanks for sharing this! I'm looking for a module to connect to my Nord Electro 2 for stage sound. I'm nervous about the 1/8 inch out rather than the full size. Wondering if it affects the sound quality?
@patrickfridrichovsky39092 жыл бұрын
I am using it in my home studio setup, when I want to play piano on my midi keyboard with the computers completely turned off. It's practically simple. Not the greatest sound, but satisfying. The only minus is not very easy menu setting. Installed battery is a piece of shit. Suddenly, when it loses the juice, it makes horrible white noise, there is no any notification or whatsover. For that price you can't find any other similar solution.

Korg NTS1! It is monophonic (one note at a time), but you can literally download oscillators and effects into it. The cool thing is that it also works as just an effects unit since it has 3.5mm stereo input! You could even plug this thing into it and add reverbs/distortion/chorus etc

Just a tip, you could use the Arturia Keystep (less than $100 used) to not only set the scale and transpose for playing in key or whatever, but also connect the MIDI OUT from it, to the MIDI IN on the Midiplus Sound Module and you can also sequence melodies as a bonus and even play another synth at the same time using USB or a MIDI Y Splitter to go from the OUT to 2 INs! Just a thought
