Always thought how awesome it was how Pete blasts the security guy and picks up the song again with skipping a beat. True artists and professionals. All of them.

Why'd Peter yell at him though, he was just keeping people off the stage from what I saw
@KeironP13 күн бұрын
@QuinnsVictorianTrainsBecause that was a fan that was about to jump up on stage, most probably join him at the mic and scream into it and put his arm around his shoulder.and have a moment. The fan means well…….he’s at the front……..that’s who Midnight Oil are performing for. You don’t run across the stage and literally crash tackle the fan and knock him senseless back into the crowd. You take him by the arm and coaxitively lead him away after he’s met Pete. He’s the bands biggest fan! This was post punk Aussie pub rock…….these guys loved on stage interactions with their fans. In the words of Jello Biafra “ Fat ass bouncers kick the sh*t out of kids who try to dance”. Edit: 5:12 of “No Time For Games” will show you the fan interaction.

@@KeironP1 Yep. It was the way the security guard handled it. He was way too heavy handed. So Pete put him in his place.

Peter giving the security a talking to after he rugby tackles a fan. True punk rock spirit.

Someone else in the comments expressed your sentiment as well regarding the bodyguard. Excuse my ignorance but I thought the security guard was protecting the band by tackling the guy since he didn’t know what the fan was going to do or if he had a weapon maybe. I would appreciate your input because I’m sure you’re right.😁 Thanks 😄

@@FarrierNoire Nah, Pete especially didn't need a lot of protection. He habitually waded into audiences at pub gigs to break up fights - he had zero tolerance for violence at Oils shows. In this case I think Pete objected to the burly security guy roughly tackling a kid - it was clearly OTT. The Oils always had a special relationship with their fans, and Stage invaders knew they would be expected to become part of the performance, so didn't do it lightly!

Rob hitting that 'ting' - just musical genius. Would be a good song without it but it just elevates it.
