Midnight Oil - Sydney - February 25 2021

In preparation for their ‘Makarrata Live Tour’, Midnight Oil performed an intimate show at the newly renovated Enmore Theatre in Sydney. The Makarrata Project was played in its entirety, accompanied by several well known First Nation performers - Dan Sultan, Alice Skye, Troy Cassar-Daley, Tasman Keith and Leah Flanagan. As well, the new bass player, Adam Ventoura, was on show for his first official performance with the band. As is only natural with a warm-up show after a long break, there were a number of minor blips. But in my opinion these only added to the overall fun of the night. Adam Ventoura is doing a more than admirable job! He is obviously a really good listener and all-around musician...holding everything down, honoring the parts while tastefully adding his own bits here and there. It can't be easy stepping into the greatest live band in Rock and Roll history! I sincerely hope he is enjoying himself!

I agree 100%. I have seen some comments lamenting that he's not Bones and never will be. But that's very far from the point. I think Adam is doing a great job. I wish him all the best in his new position.

Been an avid Oils fans for 40 years. Seeing two back up singers arms waving like that at an Oils concert just doesn't seem right. Three people to fill in for the previous bass player. Just goes to show what a great musician Bones was. Still, we either move as we age or sit on a shelf. Rap music during Beds Are Burning though is like vegemite on a Peters Ice cream cone.

Yeah I thought Adam would take Bonesy's spot but they had three people doing his solo in Lajurta Way (bass, two vocalists). Sounded good but it's weird. I hope this is a short-loved thing: I don't want the Oils to turn into some karaoke act. And I hate to say this at all.

Thanks for you kind words. I'm glad you like the footage. It was a great night. The encores were particularly good. But I was too busy enjoying them to get my camera out. I'm just a live music fan who loves recording at concerts. Hopefully, live music is now beginning to make a comeback. How I've missed it.

Same old same old...nothing happens and the Oil's create a money ride on the back of it and in the background people like Soros fund the BLM and everything gets muddy from there out. What a fucking mess that is. If Pete wanted to "Give it back" he wouldn't own the land where his house is. It's kind of like some vegans wearing Doc Martins...fuck the carrots.
