When everyone else was playing disco or rock when I was in high school, my grandparents turned me on to their music with a best of album of classic big band recordings. I have loved the music of the ‘30s and ‘40s ever since. Gorgeous band.

I was walking along Ealing Broadway in London,I think it was 1982/3,when I spotted a guy I thought I knew. I couldn't quite remember where I had seen him before,and then it dawned on me who he was. Grady ,the caretaker from the Shining. He saw me looking across at him and smiled Actor Philip Stone in real life, Regret not asking for his autograph,but I didn't want to bother the man. I believe he was a real gentleman. And a wonderful actor.

Brilliant - I think this music is timeless - eventually it will come back into vogue - and hopefully society will realize the wonders of social dancing....
@YouTubesucksdick2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, it won't. As much as i hate to say it, it can't, and won't. Songs like this were of an era, and with auto tune, it won't be real. Al bowlly, Benny Goodman, bob Crosby, bing Crosby, Andrew sisters, cannot make a comeback, because record company's want NEW. They want voices of a new generation. When this music died, it died forever. Only it's ghost lingers to those who can see it. 😥

Well, your wish sort of came true. With The Caretaker, this generation has been exposed to this era of music and they enjoy it.

Excellent. It's great to see people dancing to this favourite fox-trot of mine. One of my lifes regrets, nor learning to dance, Ballroom style. I took lessons, but the two left feet problem was too rooted.

There’s gonna be a new generation of people dancing to stuff like this thanks to a project called the caretaker which uses this kind of music to make a story about dementia but it made a whole new generation of young people love this kinda music from the early 1900s

A trained ear would know that the sax prolonged his solo, just a tad bit too long stealing the beautiful entrance of the piano....but most people probably wouldn't have noticed, except for the piano attempting to recover from its normal re-entry. Regardless, the strings help to recover it. It is a beautiful rendition. Bowlly would have been delighted.
