Just heard the very sad news of the passing of “Bones” Hillman, and immediately thought of this song with his beautiful voice singing “Country One”. Such a melodic counterpoint to PG. Thoughts and love to his family and members of the Oils. Rest in Peace mate.

Masterpiece. So. Good . Such talented people. I feel every note, chord, harmonizing. They put their egos aside and saw the bigger picture. I’m no Aussie but this should be national anthem. Always loved this band before all Aussie bands for some reason.

To Rob, Martin, Jim & Peter. So sorry to hear about Bones. Found out Sunday whilst watching The Sound. The message came up on the screen. I couldnt believe my eyes. I love the OILS. Bones had great vocals, especially on this track. He will be missed by all Oils fans.

HONESTY POWER AND PASSION AT ITS BEST !UNTMOST RESPECT !First hear them when i was 12 , my twins are 10 now and im 45 and for me -as i am teaching them what nature of music really is -they sound as much uplifting and passionate as the day I first heard to them many years ago.!You Aussie people have to be proud - Oils did Australia excellent service !

One of the truly great Oils songs. Captures the activism of the band in the lyrics & should motivate more of the population of this nation to be more active in the future of Australia. The song is spine tingling & always moves me. "One vision, one people, one land mass, we are defenceless, we have a lifeline, one ocean, one policy, sea bed lies, one passion, one movement, one instant,one difference, one lifetime, one understanding."

Devastated to hears of the death of Bones Hillman. This was one of my favourite Oils songs (one of many admittedly) in which he sang that gorgeous solo. So sad 😭😭😭😭

My favourite band since I was a 12yr old in 1981. I've been playing this song a lot lately. It has taken on new urgency and meaning as we sit at the crossroads for determining the direction this planet and its people will take... no longer up on that fence.

I was going through one of my "boxes of stuff" a few weeks ago (May 2023) and found the first Midnight Oil album (cassette) I ever purchased. It was the 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 , 4, 3, 2, 1. album. I purchased it in late 1982 or early 1983. I graduated high school in 82. It still works. I've been hooked ever since. Amazing band and an incredible message.

I saw Midnight Oil at Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo 30 odd years ago... I remember Peter Garrett's hands waving around from their stand on Monkey Island... Years later I am still in awe of this great Australian band and I think this is their greatest song ever. Brilliant penned lyrics, haunting solos and an amazing film clip showing true Australian images. An iconic Australian band who sang from the heart and soul

RIP Bones, You had the voice of an angel and I suspect that might have helped PG collapse into tears recording this song. Blue Sky Mining is my favourite album of all time....bar none. I adore the Oils....

Going to miss you Bones. That beautiful voice is now gone and I’ll always feel sad now listening to this and watching this and think of you when I hear it. The way the song calms down like the end of a storm and your voice guides us out of it, it’s what your voice was capable of. Thanks for the music, I’m just happy I got to see you on stage.

I can’t tell you the number of times I watch and listen to this video. It really gets to me not only because of Bones One Country line but how the song and video fit together. It makes me emotional every time. I just recently bought Blue Sky Mining and Diesel and Dust on cd. Originally had both on cassette. Both of my favorite Oils albums. Never get tired of listening to them.

One of my favorite bands. Just started listening to them again. And omg where they right about everything. Big Oil companies and corporations have ruined our planet and the indigenous cultures all around the world. And this was back in the 1980s. Now look where we are. The world needs to stop and listen and change for the better.
