I use Goody Ouchless hair bands they work great, you can buy them at dollar store for $1 I also use rubberbands the rubber bands elastics( rainbow colors)thick ones last longer thx for sharing

I love your tutorial!! I was lost about a year ago when I purchased my 1st Midori. I wish your video would've been out. I just love the way you explain about the Midori and break everything down. I have purchased many travelers notebooks since but can truly say nothing beats the Original Midori and their inserts!!

OMGosh, I didn't even write in my beautiful Midori when I posted. I love the way the paper feels when I write on it. I can really feel how smooth the paper is when writing on it with my beautiful Coleto Me 0.4. This is a keeper for sure. I already started writing in it. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!

I just ordered myself one of these journals and it should be here on Thursday. I'm so excited!! I plan to have a journal that's relatively minimalistic (or at least in comparison to the ones I've seen on youtube, they get bananas), so it was cool to see one like yours that isn't quite so scrap-bookey (if that makes sense). I also liked your stickered- calendar idea, I've been trying to go on a diet myself, so that's a great idea (we're all kids at heart, everyone loves stickers!). EDIT: Where did you get the stickers in the back from? They're adorable!

Hi Kimberly, I received my Midori today and I just love it. My Midori is beautiful. I took photos of the event. I put it together on memory and directions. Nothing fell out so I think I did it correctly. However, I watched this video and put it together with your instruction and changed it a little. The Midori is really beautiful. It just smelled like wonderful leather which I just love. I keep smelling it, touching it and wondering where do I want to start first. I will start with the calendar for this month of April. I will use it for weight loss, exercise, blood sugar. I will add special up coming events too. I loved your video on the Midori which inspired me and I will use it for a personal journal. Loved my new Coleto Me and the 0.4 refills too. Thank you again for your service and inspiring me. Linda

My husband has a passport TN with a single field notes in it. So now you know one person. :) I keep trying to slip more stuff in there, but he likes it super basic. I will admit it is slim and nice. (binge watching you this morning)

I always make my own rubber bands out of those stretchy bands you use for sewing :) you can get ones that are narrow and then simply knot them ^^ I don't mind the knots, but I guess some people could find them irritating. In that case I would use regular elastics that are a bit wider and not that flimsy thin and weak as the kitchen/household ones :3 Great video and some good tips! :)

Hi, you can use the same elastic that the midori comes with or buy some elastic that seamstresses use for sewing in different colours and sizes

You actually get two additional elastic bands... the brown one that holds the cardboard packaging together on new Midori's is also one you use.

I know I’m 4 years late to this video 😂 but for the UK or EU folk amongst us, I recommend GoodINKpressions shop on Etsy which is in Spain I think. Awesome notebook inserts for regular and passport sizes, Field Notes sizes and a lot more. Tomoe River paper in both 52 gsm and 68 gsm and of course, your choice of lined, blank, dot grid, etc. Brilliant! 👌🏻😀👍🏻

I use eight notebooks in mine as well as a zipper pocket and card holders so its pretty chunky. I also use elastic which I get off a sewing stall at the market that works x

What you can do is take Dollar store hair elastics, the basic black kind and fuse several together using hot glue as a sort of bridge. Albeit, some parts of the resulting band will be rigid, it will not break, can achieve any length and the hot glue can be covered in permanent marker.

Hi there; I saw a really good 'Midori' tutorial on Ephemeras Vintage Garden which was easy to make yourself. Check it out as it uses folders and elastic hat band for closure etc. Thanks for showing this version, loved your show & tell.

There is another way to do this with 4 books and the plastic pouch and have no overhang. Look up a video by Mikke...there is no talking she just shows you how to do it.

I find that the leather cover gets too roughed up and doesn't provide enough support for me. I really like using the Midori archiving binders instead. I don't worry about snapping bands that way, and I get a bit more stability.

That's the charm of the leather. Its *supposed* to get scuffed up and look worn after a while. Its proof that its being used and taken to many places. (^_^)

If you stick those stickers, like the one with the folder, to your midori, will it leave a residu on the leather, if you peel it off?

chitji Actually, once I stick one of those folder stickers on a Midori...I can't really get it off easily. I would say if you can get it off, you'd have some residue leftover. It is a pretty permanent thing, in my opinion.
