Here in Canada basic Accord non hybrid is $40000 & Sonata with SO MUCH More equipment including Leather ,Panorama Roof ,Ventilated seats & AWD is $36000 & lots more I haven't mentioned. For a low mileage driver like me the Sonata wins hands down especially with 5 Vs 3 Year warranty. I haven't even mentioned the styling but that Accord doesn't even appeal to me & I'm 77 : ) ! I've had my Genesis 3.8 Sedan for 6 years & it's the best car I've ever owned but it was $50000 in 2016 & a new 2.5 is $70000 now so I'm seriously considering the AWD Sonata for 1/2 that price.
@AllyMcLesbian11 ай бұрын
I've owned the original Genesis 3.8 sedan for 15 years now, and still going strong. I would still love to drive a new midlevel 4-cylinder Genesis G80. That said a Sonata Hybrid would be a better fit for my budget and driving. I would pick most Hyundai-Kia offerings without hesitation (except for the garbage 2011-2019 Sonatas assembled in Alabama). I also like Honda a lot too - I used to own a 2002 Accord as well - but after Honda discontinued the manual option on all Accords, I lost my appetite.

Just ordered a 2024 Sonata. In canada we only have 2 trim levels this year. Preferred and N-Line. Preferred has now everything... Heated and ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, leather* interior, etc. Option of the AWD on the preferred. Ordered a preferred with AWD. After comparing with Camry and Accord, Sonata was the most equiped. And 6k cheaper at 37k vs 43k. Only aspect is reliability, but even Toyota and Honda has had problems recently. The big no-no of the Sonata is having a DCT. Their lifetime expectancy is around 80K to 100K miles. As hated as they are, CVTs (eCVT in the case of the Accord) excluding those old Jatco ones Nissan used to put in their cars, have proven to be very reliable and durable. Having said that, the Sonata does have more features for the price, but if you want to keep a car for a long time, Toyota/Honda is the way to go. It was Hyundai that first offered a customizable digital gauge cluster, it was Hyundai who started those seamless air vents that go across the dash, it was Hyundai who started putting safety features across all trims, it was Hyundai who started implementing big screens. It was Hyundai who started offering a more luxurious cabin at these price points. It was the Kia Optima that Honda copied the fastback design with the Accord....which happens to be a Hyundai product. @@user-zc1dx5dv5u and you say that for which reasons? I can name a bunch of things that make the Hyundai Sonata better overall. I guess the sport version handles better than the Sonata SEL, but for just about the same price you can get a Sonata N-Line, which solves that problem. Don't get me wrong, Honda changed the game many, many years ago pushing manufacturers to step up reliability......but it's Hyundai who has just completely changed the game everywhere else for the last 8 years. I'm not trying to convince you to switch, 3 years ago I was laughing at Honda, Toyota and the rest owners. While we were driving around with all these advanced features , you guys weren't, and you all probably paid more. Only thing I try pointing out to other manufacturer fanboys, is that Hyundai been had those features you guys get excited about, it was Hyundai who forced who's brand you guys like in to stepping up to catch up. HONDA HEADACHES: 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂ Brake and Rearview Camera Defects Honda recently issued recalls for various models due to brake and rearview camera defects. These recalls address potential safety hazards that can result in accidents and injuries. Unexpected Loss of Brake Function: Honda recalled over 124,000 Civic, Passport, and Pilot vehicles, including certain model year 2020-2021 Civic, 2020-2023 Ridgeline, 2021-2023 Passport, 2021-2022 Pilot, and 2020 Acura MDX vehicles. The recall was prompted by concerns that the vehicles could experience an unexpected loss of brake function, increasing the risk of a crash. Defective Brake Holds: Another recall impacted nearly 400 model year 2023 Civic, Accord, Acura RDX, and Acura Integra vehicles. These vehicles were manufactured with defective brake holds, leading to potential movement while the brake hold is activated. Honda plans to notify impacted vehicle owners by mail, starting from July 24. Rearview Camera Concerns: Honda recalled over 1.1 million Odyssey, Pilot, and Passport vehicles due to defective rearview cameras that may not display properly. This recall applies to model year 2018-2023 Honda Odyssey, 2019-2022 Honda Pilot, and 2019-2023 Honda Passport vehicles. A non-functional rearview camera can compromise the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Class Action Lawsuits against Honda In addition to the recalls, Honda is facing class action lawsuits that allege serious defects in its vehicles' components. Variable Timing Control Actuator Defect: A class action lawsuit filed against Honda claims that the automaker knowingly sold vehicles with defective variable timing control actuators. The alleged defect, affecting model year 2012-2014 CR-Vs, 2012 Accords, and 2012-2015 Crosstours, can lead to catastrophic engine failure and poses a safety hazard. Defective Electric Power Steering Systems: Two separate class action lawsuits were filed against Honda, asserting that model year 2022-2023 Honda Civic vehicles were manufactured with defective electric power steering systems. These systems may "stick," requiring an increase in steering effort, leading to overcorrections and potential collisions. Electric Braking System Sticking: Another class action lawsuit argues that Honda sold model year 2022-2023 Honda Civic vehicles with electric braking systems that can stick at highway speeds. This alleged defect can cause vehicle owners to overcorrect, increasing the risk of collisions. THERE IS YOUR HONDA LONG TERM OWNERSHIP. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Sonata has been better looking, a better value, stonger engine and more high-tech than the accord since 2011. People who talk that "Hondas are reliable" talk, are living in the past. Not saying they arent reliable, and not saying i wouldnt take this accord over my 2016 Azera. Just saying, head to head, Hyundai has been silently destroying Hondas. Lets not even talk about Genesis vs Acura. That isnt even close to competitive. Genesis is on the heals of Mercedes and BMW.

After having driven the Accord, I'm happy to report that the blend of sportiness and mainstream comfort is still present. It seems that Honda at lesst kept the suspension engineering department in check. The 2.0L Hybrid powertrain seems a little more polished than the Toyota system, and it does feel a notch faster than the 1.5L. All of that said, once you start poking around the car, some cost cutting reveals itself. The interior feels cheaper and more hollow than the 18-22, as does certain exterior attributes like the unpainted plastic vs gloss on the bumpers. The front lighting also is a downgrade over the previous generation. And with the demise of the 2.0T, Honda lost it's WOW factor from an enthusiast's standpoint. Time will tell if the 24 Sonata makes its intended splash(I actually love the bold styling), but with Hyundai still finding a way to keep the N-Line in a world where BOTH the excellent Toyota 3.5 V6 and Honda 2.0T are no longer available and venture into mixing sport, upmarket elements on the Limited, hybridized power, all the while keeping the value-driven conception alive is admireable. One thing to keep in mind with the Honda: It will retain stellar resale values, so even with the higher MSRP, you'll likely recoup that and more upon resale.

Great review! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Nice showing the side by side. Thank you. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I will go for the Sonata as well, however here in the US we only have the N-Line and the Hybrid Limited. I’m driving my 5th Sonata Limited now. Saw my first one (2010-2011) on the Super Bowl commercial and that was after I had just gotten a new 2009 Accord EXL - my 5th also. When I saw the Sonata on the commercial I knew I had to have it so sold my brand new Accord to my sister and it’s been every Sonata Limiteds since then. I haven’t had any issues with my Limiteds except the 2013 which had an issue with the gas mileage not getting even close to what it should. Brought it in several times and was told the diagnostics were reading correctly so told them I wanted out. They sold me a 2013 Sonata Hybrid for a tiny, tiny amount more. It worked like a charm. However, (I know, foolish), I missed the panoramic sunroof so turned the Hybrid in for the Limited with panoramic sunroof. So now here I am with my fifth one. Sonata offers much more than the Accord for a lot less $$$. So desperately waiting for this 2024. There are a few things I don’t like about it though - one, if you live in NE or a cold state the gloves have to come off to use the heat and fan as it is all touch control except the temperature and the fingerprints will drive me crazy. Will keep microfiber cloths in the car as I now keep a duster in my car always. Also don’t like the Hybrid only comes in 17 inch wheels - I prefer the 18 inch I have now. I will have to see if they can switch to the 18 inch. So if this all sounds negative, it really is not. I went from being a die hard Honda owner to a die hard Hyundai owner and won’t be turning back. Hoping to get the 2024 in the next couple of weeks. I’m thinking they may introduce the 2024 during this upcoming Super Bowl. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 Between me, my mom, my son and my Aunt, we’ve gotten 13 Hyundais from the same dealer. Sorry so long…🥺

Reliability is very difficult to quantify. Any massed produced product such as a car can have failures that are minor or major no matter what their reliability rating is. @@lefthanded5473 I am explaining this from the perspective of a Korean person:) Kia models produced between 2011 and 2021, and Hyundai models from 2015 to 2021, that were manufactured in the U.S. did not come equipped with immobilizers. This is because U.S. law did not require such security devices to be installed, so from Hyundai and Kia’s perspective, it made sense not to include them. Among the latest vehicles sold in the U.S., the ones being stolen are typically those without the smart key and push-button start options. However, in Korea, all Hyundai and Kia vehicles, regardless of model year, are equipped with immobilizers. In the U.S., the "Kia Boys" break windows, forcibly remove the keybox cover, steal cars using improper tools and methods, and drive without a license. When the car gets damaged or becomes inoperable, they abandon it and flee. This is a societal issue in that area, not a problem with Hyundai or Kia. The cars were clearly locked, and everything was done by force. I believe this reflects poor education and a lack of social awareness among the youth in that region. Additionally, laws to prevent such incidents should be strengthened. From what I’ve heard, these offenders are often released with just a warning because they are minors. I wonder how people would feel if the person who completely wrecked their car was released simply because they were young. The problem lies with the individuals committing the theft, not with the cars themselves.

You can also get the N line which the Accord lost this gen. Honda's reliability has also slipped so wouldn't call it by default. Only thing Accord has over Sonata is space, which is not even that important for a sedan.

I'm Korean. Sonata and Hyundai are not just cars but cars that contain the true spirit of Koreans. Sonata is a brand that contains the emotions and lyricism of many people in Korea. Of course, that's how I see Honda Accord in Japan. It's an interesting video. Looking at the two cars that have been running for generations and generations together, I think there's more than just a product video

I find it interesting that regular car reviewers tend to favor the Korean brands, but KZbinrs who are mechanics, always favor Honda and Toyota over the Korean brands.
@manofsesame302411 ай бұрын
Don’t forget one thing: the mechanics can only review old models. If you plan to buy a used car with more than 5 years old and 100,000+ miles the mechanics’ video may help more. If you are planning to buy a new car and ready to trade it in with another one before the warranty ends the reviewers’ videos would be more helpful.

@@manofsesame3024 I see your point, but plenty of them review new models as well. None of the mechanics that I know of speak highly of Korean cars for so.e reason.

How can you judge, really, 2 new vehicules on reliability ? Ye mechanics can do an assessment and risk evaluation depending on the parts, etc. but this is not bulletproof@@CaliSteve169

FIND THIS INTERESTING TOO. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I'm sorry, but we're not talking about Camrys here. Nor is it on our option list. Please find a Camry video where you can discuss your love of Camrys with like minded individuals. Have a nice day.

I'd like to see this comparison after 100K miles or so... subtract points on the car that's been at the dealership/service center more often for repairs.
