This week, we explore the story of Jesus turning Water into Wine
Read John 2:1-11
We see the scene set in Cana, a town near to Jesus hometown. Jesus, Mary (Jesus' mom), and the first disciples are invited. A problem arises that the wedding has ran out of wine and so now a potentially embarrassing thing is about to happen to the wedding party. Mary takes this problem to Jesus in faith that he will be able to help. Jesus challenges her and says, "What does this have to do with me?" He is beginning the work of creating or restoring faith of people in God (Jesus) that he can solve "problems". In the end, the Master of the ceremony remarks at the quality of the wine, but the true blessing was the faith of his disciples being deepened.
Faith Challenge:
Have you ever had a "problem" pop up out of no where? How did you seek to resolve the issue or was a problem bigger than you? In reality, we all have problems that are bigger than our resources allow us to resolve on our own. We deal with SIN, DEATH, and consequences of those in our life, as they destroy us and those we love. As a family, talk about problems that you have struggled with. Discuss how you involved God in that situation and what impact did it have? Were you amazed in how it worked out or how God blessed you? Talk about stuff going on now that you need to take to Jesus to help with... how might God resolve that situation? Take a moment and pray about it and (like Mary) trust that He will amaze you.
