Eagles are in a full rebuild but everyone knows that. Their best players are their veterans and they will lose eleven in 2-3 years. There isn't any players in the mid 20s to take over the mantle and the kids will still be young. So they will keep on having to pick kids in the draft and make sure the drafting is good. As long as the club is committed to the long term plan, which they appear to be, then they will come around and start moving up the ladder in the next few years. 2022 and 2023 is misleading because they were decimated with injuries and covid. So the bottoming out years were going to be 2024 and 2025 before a slow improvement starts from 2026 onwards. They'll get there.

Simmo and co really got the Eagles going in the first half of the year with improvement. But ultimately they aren't good enough, the kids and veterans hit the wall, opposition sides worked them out... morale dropped... But I acknowledge that there was some improvements at times and youngsters were up and about. But talent matters. They need a lot more draft picks and for the teenagers to move into the mid 20s years. That will take time. A new coach will start next year and it will be tough for a couple of years, but hopefully they can last long enough to see some improvements after that. They don't want a coaching carousel.

No he shouldn't? I'd put Cripps and Merret above Neale for AA captain easily with their form over the entire season but interested to know why you have Neale above though.

Considering he is a multiple Brownlow Medalist and has a strong chance to win his third this season, along with his numerous All-Australian selections, he is much more deserving. Merritt isn't on the same level as Neale and hasn't achieved nearly as much in the game. Yeah, I would have cripps above Merritt also, but neales above all them.

@@JustinSteele-gd5nu Cripps in contention to be a multiple Brownlow medalist aswell and his having a much better season than Neale, leading contested possessions, more disposals than Neale, created more score involvements than Neale, more clearances, there’s no way Neales AA Captain over Cripps. Cant just give him AA captain just because his a multiple Brownlow medalist when you compare his season so far to Cripps.
