Important to weigh the suppressor when it is new, then after cleaning to evaluate how clean the can is. Carbon will get so hard that the cleaning solution will not touch it, water will look clean after the cleaning in the ultra sonic cleaner. Amazing to see clean water, but weight tells you that there is a lot of carbon is still in the can.

Automatic transmission fluid for the win. Cheap house brand stuff works as well as the premium and at $1.99 for a quart, which can be used over and over until it's fouled, it's the best value of any of the dedicated products. Iv'e tried all the gun cleaners and all are a PITA to use. ATF runs circles around all of them Of course it needs to be said - I don't know why anyone would EVER clean a suppressor unless it's a.22lr

What is different with the Simple Green purple not harming aluminum in the Ultrasonic cleaner? Isn't it the cavitation that does the damage?

How about using a ultra sonic cleaner? Any suggestions?
@JimYeats Жыл бұрын
Works great as long it's a durable non-coated material. My Rugged Oculus 22 recommends Purple Power and an ultra sonic cleaner for the removable stainless baffle cones. Avoid use on aluminum or any coated parts (like a Cerakoted tube). Edit: plus they talk about it as well at 5:53
@edumahkayt3r5 ай бұрын
@midwestgunworks you said "aluminum" when putting the Titanium suppressor in the ultra sonic cleaner. When you mentioned using simple green ourple solution because it (the chemicals) doesn't harm aluminum... putting aluminum in an ultra sonic cleaner is a no no though. It can cause pitting and can eat away at the aluminum. For a safe rule of thumb, aluminum should not go in an ultra sonic cleaner.

Hope you have a separate dishwasher hooked up because that’s a lot of lead contamination on your dishes otherwise. Primers contain a lot of mercury as well.

@@jebj1 wouldn’t count on it brother. Studied industrial chemistry in college and mercury never goes away once it’s in your body. It’s called fractionation dilution brother, and it’s logarithmic. Elemental mercury ain’t that toxic in liquid form, but organomercury? That’s incredibly toxic in small doses and stays in your system forever. Incidentally, that’s the compound that is formed when a primer detonates. Yeah, it’s a minuscule amount, but considering that a drop applied to your skin will kill you, a few ppm is a lot. If you shoot me, I’d be rather annoyed. If you chase me with a vial of organic mercury compounds I’ll scream like a little girl and run faster than I have in my life. You don’t want to put that into your water table for you, your kids, or grandkids to drink, would ya? There’s not a lot out there that scares me, but that stuff does. Please keep it out of our waterways, for the good of all.

Appreciate the video but you need to be way more specific. Cleaning a can isn’t like lubing a Mil-Spec AR. It really needs to be manufacturer and model based for best results, longest life with no damage done.

The idea that more buildup in your can makes it quieter seems counterintuitive to say the least. After all, carbon/fouling building up inside your can reduces its internal volume.
@jeffreygoss8109Ай бұрын
So does Vaseline but you add that to dampen sound. I could see it absorbing sound waves. I remember as a kid building speaker boxes to deafen myself and make the neighbors hate me we added fiberglass to speaker boxes to act like a larger volume.

It actually depends on the caliber you're shooting. 22lr is DIRTY so they will build up more, quicker, than other calibers like 9mm or rifle rounds. Rimfire is the dirtiest you can shoot. Also the funnest imo 😂
