@@harleyniece5168I know it’s hard to know which one suits you better as not many of us have the choice of different bikes but if any of your friends have different ones then honestly give them a go , I started off on a ktm250 sxf for enduro and it was the biggest mistake for me personally as it was just way too heavy and as a beginner i just couldn’t handle the power so if you take anything from this just try and ride as many different bikes as you can and one will definitely just click with you

My advice is don't get caught up in having the best or the newest anything. Get out there and ride. Your confidence will grow, you will make less mistakes and learn valuable lessons. Just be smart and ride.

My advice for new riders - don't go over the top with the bike. I used to love my CRF450 for MX but off the MX track it was just a handful. I'm used to big bikes so it wasn't the uncontrollable monster some might have you believe but it was noticably more work to keep it going nicely through woods and over slower stuff. Enduro's and even road biased things like DR's (stripped back appropriately) are much easier going and don't have the hair trigger throttle response - though they are a lot heavier. Something like a 250 4t enduro is probably about as good as it gets depending on which one it is. Most importantly don't worry about getting a shiny new one. You will drop it. You will hit things on it. It will get broken. Just get something you're comfortable controlling - even if thats a 125 - then get out there and ride a good few times to get used to it before investing much. Its surprising how much fun you can have with 15hp in the right places but of course if you have any big hills or open land to do you're better off with a bit more engine. Two big points - don't get nicked doing something daft because that affects your road license weather you have one or not. Also wear decent gear. I've seen too many people go out in a pair of steel toe caps and a cheap lid then wonder why they break when they land. Use the protection to the value of what you're protecting. If you don't value your head wear a cap. If you don't like your bones its a t-shirt and shorts for you. Initially I would spend more on gear than the bike and even if its cheapish it just needs to protect well.

Good advice by this gent ,even when its 30 degrees here,mx boots and all the armour,If you use an enduro helmet they are also lighter and cooler.As well as my 450 i have a crf300l with modded suspension.Im never worried riding alone on it and with some practice you can go pretty quick,usually faster or just as fast as any adventure bike off road.

Brother just because you don’t hit the power band often doesn’t mean you’re not a good rider. I grew up racing 2 strokes and riding ATVs on gnarly trails and I seriously doubt I could do the crazy tight woods riding you do. Bobbing and weaving through those trees and up those steep hills takes skills and clutch control like no other. Love the channel.

1 tip of advice is if you have short legs take the seat off take out the staples holding the seat cover get the electric carving knife out a marker pen and cut the foam away then get a plasterers surform shaver and shape the seat, staple the seat cover back on and you can get up to an extra 25mm-30mm which doesn't sound a lot but being able to touch the floor gives a lot more confidence also undo triple clamps and push shocks up gain a little more leg room hasn't compromised the sherco 300 I have and gives me more confidence.

something like a exc 200 or a beta 200rr, or even the xtrainer ideal first bike for enduro in my opinion, plenty of power but not overwhelming or uncontrollable, fairly easy to ride, easy to maintain, nice and light, get something that's a couple of years old as you will put some fair battle dents on the thing especially starting out, i think getting in the habit of standing as much as possible is good too, preserves a lot of energy and you will have a lot more control over the bike, also taking the time to position your bars, your levers etc etc makes a big difference, you've gotta feel comfortable on the bike, totally agree about looking ahead, i have a terrible habit of looking down and i end up all over the place or crashing, great tip, and just touching on what you said about the enduro community, its !00% one big family who fore the most part look out for each other and help each other, i came off a couple of times this weekend in valley extreme and you will always get a couple of riders slow down and just ask if your ok, its very humbling and something i never experienced or witnessed in mx, you will make some incredible friends through the community, I'm still a novice, but my biggest tip would be just enjoy it have fun ride your own ride, don't feel intimidated by other riders who are faster, we all start somewhere and never give up 🏁 great vid 🤘

I enjoy riding single track and enduro trails but I don't ride the hardest stuff around because I'm not a pro. I have no issues and could be happier with the bikes performance on the eduro trails or the single tracks. I might have to do a test ride if I ever want to get really into enduro but I think I might do a small event on my 250 and see how it goes. I all so live in Australia with alot more places to ride without a registered bikes and I ride a cf 250. 😊

If you can't spend much on a bike, the early 2000's yamaha wrf's are a cheap bike to pick up and easy to mod for more power when you're ready for it. You can cut a wire and change a bolt to get the wr250f running the same as a yz250f. I picked mine up for 1200$ AUD

In my neck of the woods we have a lot of public paths (don't really want to call them roads since they are rough as all hell) that go near or through peoples land, if you also are in such an area biggest thing is to be respectful and mindful, slow down for walkers, bikers and if you encounter the owner of the land or someone working or are confronted by someone it don't be a dick, keep calm, wave or even stop and have a chat, it helps keep a positive outlook on the enduro community and if you ride the trails often the people might recognize you and you could even make some new, unexpected friends.

thanks , well done , would like addresses of enduro riding places , thanks ,also music not needed - have a hard job to hear you , next - i have bought an exc300 - same as yours to look at to ride on the road , i always say to people buy the wr450 as its the best bike out there , but gave in to my love of the 2 strokes , never rode the 300 for 2 months and sulked because i knew i should have bought the 350 ktm 4 stroke for highway use or the yam ,,as i was dreading the ping ping jerky 300 , although i have had 300's in the past and found them, not that bad ,, now here we go --- the tpi is a revalation ,just the right amount of exhaust ping smooth as 4 cyl road bike , starts and runs perfect just like a commuter bike ,, -- what a relief , yes the 4 st will always be the better road bike but this 300 IS a defo upgrade if you want to hop from village to wherever ..

Regarding the tip at 7:30 min regarding Husqvarna subframe would it be possible to put weaker bolts? Even perhaps nylon bolts? I guess the standard bolts are steel (or stainless) and replacing those with nylon or even aluminium bolts could be helpful to avoid breaking the subframe as they would snap first than the subframe itself (working like a mechanical fuse). Maybe just an idea?
@MidWestMX2 жыл бұрын
Possibly. People I know have taken them out completely and the subframe is still a solid fit so no dramas. Up to you

Yeah sure mate. Get a modern two stroke like a KTM or Husqvarna. There's a pot which you fill with oil and then it mixes the 2 stroke oil into your petrol tank automatically. Change oil on them every 50-60 hours and new piston every 120-150 hours. Super easy to maintain. I always ride a ktm 300 exc for enduro and never had any major issues.
