I came from Alex' side, but I'm following this channel here for a while too. It's funny because my best friend, who really enjoys the Midwinter Minis Channel since she got into miniature painting end of last year, didn't know Alex' channel until I showed her some videos a few weeks ago. And now you two are here, doing a podcast together ^^ Thank you so much for all the inspiring content. It was really fun hearing your thoughts about the convention and your time together.

Nice talk! Thank you both. Hey Alex: I've been playing some sort of Frostgrave with my 8year old son. The rules are easy, the stories are selfmade (eg: fetch this or save someone...) and we play one team of adventurers together. It works for almost two years now.

1:01:19 I honestly recommend that everyone enter painting competitions, regardless of their chances of winning. That said, I have entered enough, win or lost, to realize that I don't really care about what a judge thinks about my miniatures. An "Open" competition, I'm there every time. Otherwise, some event where only the judges will really look at the minis - I couldn't care less.

Great to bump into you and Hattie as you were entering the painting comp! On the prizes, they announced last year that they were changing, and posted it on the rules for entrants this year. I get that some found it weird, in past years, each winner would also win physical prices (cases, mini's tools etc) but this was the first year in 8+ where they only had 'awards' Saying that, everyone who made it onto the shortlist got a 'You made the cut' card, so many more people got 'awarded' this year than previously. Congrats to Stefan (lead on the painting comp) and the South London Warlords for another awesome, volunteer-run event.

Only just seen this but wanted to say Hi. I saw you at Salute but didn't really get a chance to say hi then. I was right behind you when you were checking your models in to the painting competition and fortunately my Sphiranx ended up right next to Hatty's dragon in the large fantasy model category. I didn't win anything but i did get a few "You've made the cut!" cards which I assume are commended entries? Either way, hope to see you again next year!

Plus the amount of day light impacts on how i see colours too!! I painted under a normal big light and thought it looked great picked up next day it was horrendous!! So if you can paint that awesome theres hope for me yet!! 😂
