Oh man, I had covid too even though I was insanely careful. My dad was dying so I went to the hospital to be with him and that's all it took. That was the only place I went in like a year bc I work from home, and I wore a mask, and washed my hands like crazy. I even ordered groceries for delivery instead of going to the store. Sometimes its just not preventable. Im vaccinated now bc i do not want to contract it again. You seem really upset that you caught it, I was too. I hope you feel better, it took about 2 full weeks for me to start to feel normal. Dont be hard on yourself. Take vitamin D and C, it helps. Sending love.

Glad you recovered! I got it back in March 2020 and it took me a month to recover and I am still feeling some side effects! I have never quite recovered all my energy.
@BrittanytheBibliophile3 жыл бұрын
Thank you 🖤 and yeah, it was definitely upsetting but I just have to be happy that I’m mostly okay! It’s more upsetting being the careful people who caught it, you know? But nothing to do to change that 🤷🏼♀️

I am so sorry about your dad! I hope you get your energy back… I also had Covid and feel tired all day long…

I got covid from absolutely nothing. It's scary how transmissible it is because I stayed home and got all of my groceries delivered but yet I still ended up contracting it from God knows where. Hope you recover quickly

So happy your ok!! I had gotten sick end of April, gave it to my husband and kids but everyone was so suprised that I was the one to get it. I was the only one wearing a mask at work, constantly sanitizing everything, hand washing constantly, all of it. As soon as I got off work I washed my hands and even bought face wash that claims to kill the virus. Still ended up sick. I still have shortness of breath every once in a while and chest pains. It was terrifying. I'm so happy your ok and hopefully you don't have lingering symptoms. ❤

I got sick near the end of January and I still struggle with lingering symptoms too! I feel like a wimp and I am judged, but I cannot get a good full breath and there are days I feel so weak I have to drag myself through the day. Hopefully we are all able to fully recover with time

It's cool that you mentioned Emergency Contact, since I'm planning on that being my 'retreat book'. At my school, retreat is a yearly thing where all the students basically go to a camp for three days and chill out, and I always like bringing a book since people always ask what I'm reading, and it's a good conversation starter. Hopefully I won't be disappointed!

When you held up The Lost Apothecary I yelled "Thank you!" I was so disappointed with this. The cover is beautiful too. I would have liked it more if she would have just stuck with the historical story and developed that more and then had a little wrap up with the present day history explanation..look what we found, etc, thing like at the end of The Handmaid's Tale. I gave The Last Apothecary 2 stars as well.
@BrittanytheBibliophile3 жыл бұрын
Yes!!! Agreed!! Plus I would’ve liked more of the badass history of the apothecary, like tidbits and stories, versus just the one overarching story

I’m looking forward to the Righteous by Renee Ahdieh, Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson and Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco. There are several others. Personally, my biggest surprise was Punk 57. I didn’t think I was going to love it as much as I did. That confrontation and final twist at the end was what really got me. It resonated with my literal soul lol

some books I'm excited for in the 2nd half of 2021 are The Death of Jane Lawrence, which is a gothic horror with Crismon Peak and Rebecca vibes, How We Fall Apart, which is a YA asian dark academia mystery thriller, and also Empire of the Vampire; also one that came out at the end of June was The Things We Don't See by Savannah Brown, which is a YA summer mystery thriller set on a remote island and it has a podcast element to it 🥰 hope you feel better soon!

Oh I loved The Starless Sea! It did have a couple little issues for me but was so atmospheric and wonderful that I can look past them. It also kept me thinking about it for the longest time. As for my most anticipated release, I'm excited for Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber, purely for my love of Jacks from the Caraval series (even though I didn't LOVE the last book). The Last Graduate, Empire of The Vampire, Shadow in The Ember, Portrait of A Scotsman and Well Matched are all up there as well on my list.

Sorry you got sick, glad you're getting better. It's scary because even though I'm vaccinated I still wear my mask just in case. Growing up I read a lot too, way more than I do now and it's hard not to compare myself to back then. It's important to celebrate the small wins

I am really excited for A Lesson in Vengeance by Victoria Lee which is a dark academia haunting story with a sapphic relationship. I also am looking forward to Where the Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire partly because I love the wayward children series and also the title is promising an ocean story which is something I am into and I am hoping that Cora will get her happy ending in this book. I also am wanting A Psalm of Storms and Silence by Roseanne A.Brown because I deeply enjoyed A Song of Wraiths and Ruin and I am a little bummed that it isn't out yet. I feel like there are more, like Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson and Alls Well by Mona Awad, but they are slipping from my mind is all. I hope you feel better soon.
