(Part 3)- And since we are talking about export MiG-29's, who knows what material standards in Russia is applied for Export military hardware. They could have purposely put there a material with lover quality standards so the buyer of the jet would have to pay the Russians for the major overhaul in a decade or two after the jets were purchased. I mean, it's not farfetched, more money for them, and most things revolve around money in 20th and 21st century.

You didn't post a source of the info I asked. Mig-29 were involved in Dissimilar Air Combat Training, but it never went in with a MiG-31. Did this DACT happen in USA by any chance? DACT in USA was usually ran with F-16,F/A-18 and other US fighters vs. "Aggressor" fighters such as Polish MiG-29's, some MiG-21's...etc. And in DACT simulation preformed in Germany, former East-German MiG-29's preformed pretty damn good in Close DF against F-16's and F/A-18's.

F4E has shown almost tie in simulated combat with Su34. Mig29 was always shot down in the '90s. It only shot down 2 Cessna 338.

The F4 has shot down numerous mig 21s during the Vietnam War and the Middle East wars. It was also shown to be defeating the ming 29 as the mig 29 loses energy rapidly after maneuvering . The mig 29 has aerodynamic and structual flaws that cannot be remedied-it only pulls 7G at altitude and speed with short range and has vertical stabilizer migration problems resulting in breakup. This is why the mig 29s in the US had to be rebuilt.

The Mig 29 lost close range fight against the Mig 31 which crashed due to excessive wing loading related issues several times ago. No electronics was involved in that simulated dogfight as there was very heavy jamming effectively disabling the Zaslon and other equipment.So there is serious problem with the mig 29. This is why Su27 has become bestseller but obody buys the mig 29.

Many mig 21s were shot down in Vietnam and this was the reason why the Vietcongs restricted the mig 21 to their best few pilots. In Middle East, the F4 had even much more victories. Once at high speed and altitude, the mig 29 loses energy rapidly due to its aerodynamical design while the F4 keeps energy consistent. Only the Su34 keeps tie with the F4E. No Russian made plane has any chance against F4E+APG65+IRIS-T+AIM120+PW1120.

And therefore, in 99% of scenarios F-15 and F-16 (actually, F-16 only shoot down one MiG-29 ever, it was a Dutch F-16 and it shoot down a Serbian MiG-29 in 1999, of-course from BVR range) took on MiG-29's from BVR range, and because MiG-29 didn't have proper BVR cap, it was a sitting duck. It's like...one dude has a sniper, other has a Desert Eagle hand gun, and they are 2km apart. Which one will kill the other first?

The fact that the mig29 lost dogfight against the unmaneverable Mig31 without ANY involvement of AWACS or whatsoever shows that aerodynamics is the basic problem. The mig29 only shot down two Cessna 337s which is no wonder. It also has a flawed tail design where steel was used together with aluminium,resulting in migration(as airframe is common positive ground as with cars) and structural failure. US operated Mig29s had to be rebuilt therefore,with full aluminium tails.

Only the Su 34 is capable of a tie with the F4E as shown in simulated air combat. Kill ratios to Mig 29: F4E-3, F16C/D-5, F15E-10. The mig 29 was never designed as a jet fighter but a point defense interceptor only effective against very slow moving targets.

And concerning the supposed 'flaw' the MiG-29 has on it, how does a pure aluminum tail preform better than aluminum-steel tail?! Steel is much tougher than aluminum and has good vibration absorption properties. They use aluminum on jet airframe because, it's hell of a lot lighter than Steel, but aluminum ain't tougher, no way. In High-voltage power-lines they use Aluminum-steel combination, because aluminum is a good conductor, but it can't support it's own weight.

And, besides, since Israeli them selves evaluated MiG-29 to be a pretty good fighter/close range interceptor, and since Israeli AF is not to be joked with, i really have to say i doubt your comments. Especially since i was unable to find any solid information about your claims that "MiG-29 has a structural design flaws in it's tail, excessive induced drag...etc" and you avoid posting a link or a Google reference to make this more believable.

The Americans had to replace tails with fully aluminum alloy made ones. This is a very basic metallurgical problem even elementary schoolkids know. Such problems did not occur with the F-4Es or F-5Es still flying here. So 50-year old US made planes are better than 20-year old Russian made planes in BASIC areas.

One Mig 31 shot down a Mig 29 in a simulated combat under very heavy ECM environment. , in close range and visual. This is not surprising at all seeing the poor actual performance of the mig 29.

The mig 29 has vry basic aerodynamical,structural and metallurgical problems. The plane made here is much better and this is why Philipines and Indonesia have bought it instead of the mig 29. and Russia does not have a digital industry infra like that one the US has. No FIrst World country wants the mig 29, just US and European planes.

No european country bought the mig 29; they were replaced by F16s and Gripens,that's the real fact.mig 29 is not good and outperformed by the F4E. The Americans had to replace many mig 29 parts due to very basic metallurgical problems. Even now, the F4 Phantom is metallurgically better than the mig 29.

I have seen mig 29's performance envelope back in the early '90s. It cannot turn over 7G at height and altitude and has a very short range, about an half that of the F4E. This has to do with excessive induced drag resulting from design optimized for very low speeds. In a dogfight with the F4E without BVR, the mig29 has only the first chance which it will miss. Then the F4E maintains relatively constant energy level while the mig29 rapidly loses it.

Ništa nam više ne treba od 29m2... Pogledajte šta su uradili Nemci sa starim 29tkama unapređenim f18 i f16 na zajedničkoj vežbi. F16 nije skinu ni jednu 29tku dok su f18 desetkovane. Na kraju kad je bio brifing i kad su ameri videli koji je skor napustili su salu u besu :D

But russian planes can never shoot down us made ones while the opposite was always true. One F4E Phantom can shoot down 3 Mig29s even without the APG65/AMRAAM configuration. The F16C/D can 5 while the F15E can 10 in one flight. The Su34 was shown to be a tie with the F4E.

(Part 1)And, even if MiG-29 has a"structural flaws in it's tail",those flaws are not the cause of poor aerodynamic solutions, tail shape and design...etc, but those are probably caused by insufficiently good material, or simple said, material that doesn't meet the necessary standards. And if that is the case, then all kinds of shit can go down, cause a insufficiently good material can get micro-fractures when force is applied to it, and in case of a tail-section, it can do all sort of things....

F-35 is great fighter in theory, but it's too expensive and difficult to maintain. USA also has lots of problems in production of these jets. F35 is simply not yet reliable. It's enough to say that they stopped the production and 'grounded' all F35 and F22 until they finish some tests because something's wrong with their design. I prefer Russian fighters, because they're made for war... USA's are made just to put fear in enemy.

There was a DACT training involving Mig 31s and Mig 29s; a Mig 31 defeated Mig 29 in close combat, This was quite natural as the Mig 29 is only effective at very low speeds. I always go to air shows but the F15/F16 are much better.

Not a pc game but a training carried out in Russia. The mig 29 loses energy much faster at high speeds as indicated by its em chart according to which it is worse than F4 Phantom. Just as expected. Nobody buys the mig 29; instead countries buy F16,Gripen and F/A--50 instead. India will make its own stealth planes.

From this comment it's my understanding you have 0 knowledge on how AF engagements work. MiG-29's never had AWACS, EW, or AEW support, also they didn't have proper BVR capability due to export radars(US was always flying against export versions of MiG-29 with cheap-ass radars). Plus, USAF always has AWACS, EW, AEW and SEAD support.
