This video shows mig welding techniques as well as push vs pull tests. For welding accessories, visit my store weldmongerstore.com/
A good way to test for penetration is the cut and etch test.
If the test is done while the weld is still fresh on your mind, you can correlate results with what you saw and welding technique can be adjusted and improved.
I used a lincoln power mig 210mp for the first welds with settings of 19 volts and 310 inches per minute of wire speed using .030" diameter er70s6 wire.

Hi Jody, I´m from Argentina and I watch your videos mainly beacuse you speech is clear, no stupid music, you talk about techniques, settings, and go straight to the point. Welding is about techniques, materials and results. I get confused when people praise for brands I can't even get in my country.

I wish you were sponsored! That way I wouldn't feel guilty about how much I've learned from you for free. I've literally watched every single video you've done. When I first bought my tig welder, I would watch a video and then run to the garage to try what I just learned. I routinely search your videos before starting a new welding project. I've also bought some of your products - all of them as excellent as your videos. It will be a very sad day when you stop producing content. Thank you for all that you do. The world is a safer place when weld joints are properly done.

Who is giving you grief about weather you get paid by a company. Jody, you have used and talked about SO many products during your time on KZbin that even IF a company was paying you I wouldn't think twice about it. I believe you are a man of integrity and anything you endorsed would be a quality product. Keep the great videos coming.

I haven't been keeping up with your videos lately, but this one, like all others was well done. Its always nice to see someone share information because of a passion for what they are sharing. You are one of the greatest welding educators out there. The education industry itself is wrapped up in the "bottom line" more than they are the result and love of teaching. Thank for all you do!

I've been welding for about 3 years now through a vo-tech program at my high school. Started in my freshman year and still continue's now into my junior year which is my last sadly. Would just like to say how much your videos have helped over the past 3 years. Whatever i need its here, explained very good and detailed as well. Crazy how convenient your videos are, in a good way of course. We just started mig welding today after months of practicing stick and getting a structural steel certification (with the help of your video's). And i wasn't sure which technique looks the best while getting the best penetration. Looked at my phone during a break to see what time it was and saw you uploaded a video, and my question was answered. Also bought your MIG knuckle not too long ago and its very, very helpful with MIG and Dual sheild as well. But i also use it to prop on out of position pipe or plate if it starts getting too hot, very well made and comfortable product along with the tig finger. Keep making these badass videos and products!

It's been about 35 yrs since I welded MIG and stick in a factory. I enjoyed the welding but the constant production push.. more, more, more drove me out. I never had much training, just kinda picked it up along the way. Your videos have brought back things I've forgotten and teach me a lot of things I never knew. Our simple old welders had most of the numbers worn off the dials. I just set all the machines by feel. A lot of your numbers and hi tech settings are wayyy over my head, but I do get the general concept. Todays welding machines have too many bells and whistles for me. I bought a fairly simple TIG / stick welder and will piddle around in the garage making small boat anchors, steel framed picnic tables etc. It will be a strictly hobby thing. Your videos will teach me TIG. I've never done it before, but it looks like fun.

My friend Jody, this world is full of mouths who have yet to learn that God gave us two ears and one mouth and the obvious point is that we should listen twice as much as we speak. You have helped me in my life through your wonderfully beneficial videos. Because of your fair, equal and balanced reviews of machines and products, I have benefited. As a non-practicing A&P, I see in your style and approach to conveying your advice and knowledge a polished set of editing skills and a consistent no-nonsense style that is so refreshing compared to the mountains of needless information I received years ago while in pursuit of that license. As an old guy now, I only need the nitty gritty such as what you and Jimmy and the like offer. Thank you and keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You always seem up front on who pays for what in all your vids Never really seen anything different, either.. Always straight forward on the info you present ,and just calling it like you see it.. You do a good job, and many people are helped by the info..Good stuff..Thanks!

people just need to bicker about something. I think when you show or "feature" products that you use, it helps me decide what I might need to better my fabrication skills. Keep up the great videos, enjoy them all. Thanks

Nice touch at the end, well said.. Sick of my other channels complaining about views and how they're struggling. It is funny how these same channels use the click-bait tactic to try to get more views. Coincidence? I think not. Great work and great videos, keep it up Jody!!

Thanks Jody You have taught me a lot. I am a low budget welder. Very low. 240 amp AC welder and 30 wire Flux core. It is amazing how much i can accomplish with these 2 machines.

I picked up two of the tig fingers from you, one for home, and one for work. Like you say, "a prop in your pocket". Thanks.

Jody dont worry about what other people say I just really really enjoy watching your videos and getting the knowledge and techniques and all the information you have to offer. I just got done with Arc 2 where we focused mostly on vertical up, horizontal and overhead welding and your videos have helped a lot with that as well as my instructors guidance. I also just took tig 1 and i got to learn flat, vertical up and horizontal for that. I am looking forward to continuing learning about tig welding. I also have only done mig in flat and horizontal so i dont know anything about vertical up and horizontal or overhead but thats why im here :). Thanks for everything and keep doing what your doing :). PS that tig finger really helps :)
