Thanks to all the fans that have commented on this series finale. I enjoy the fact that there is much disagreement about it. It was meant to be controversial.. As for the reason for the ending: we were told the series was not being picked up and I felt that it deserved an unusual ending that would incite the fans to wonder where it might go from here. Much better than just having no end to the story. Hope you enjoyed it, or at least enjoyed hating it.

Gordon Bressack it’s a fantastic ending. I am 33 now and I still revisit the video because of how much this ending impacted me. I’m so impressed that you got Tim Curry to voice Skullmaster in the first place, but he is one of my favorite villains of all time. I love this series so so much and almost 20 years later I think so fondly of it.

Gordon Bressack I always LOVED how the finale two parter had a bunch of the villains from many of the non-skullmaster episodes throughout.

When Max said, "I can die trying!" that really made me think--they don't say things like that anymore! This cartoon was probably the BEST animated adventure series I've ever had the pleasure of viewing (3rd time watching it all the way through XD) and even though it ended in a way that leaves us wanting more when we know we can't have it, it leaves room for our imaginations to pick up where the show left off! LONG LIVE THE MIGHTY ONE!

8:03 "You fool! You can't save the world!" "I can die trying!" "You will!" Not going to lie, that exchange is incredibly intense. For all it being a silly cartoon show, they tackled some dark subject matter.

I've only seen some of the early episodes back when it was still airing on TV so many years ago. But now, I've seen them all and I have to admit I'm glad I watched them here. The ending left me curious to see what Max will do the second time around, despite knowing what has transpired the first time. Still, it's Saturday morning nostalgia at its best. It should be Max's destiny to be put on DVD for everyone to enjoy...

Oh you & me both! Although I never had Polly Pockets... I had only a couple Mighty Max toys. My daily routine at age 13 was to come home from school, flip on Animaniacs, then change the channel where Mighty Max was in syndication. I have the bootleg DVDs (which I will buy official special edition ones if they're ever released), and I fully plan on showing it to my kids. It's truly one of the best, most under rated shows out there.
@ronarprfct16 жыл бұрын
Yes, but once he thought it was too late to stop him, and knew Max's friends were unable to help him, he got cocky, and he also probably saw the risk to the cap if he killed the capbearer to be more worthy of consideration once he actually had it in his grasp and had plans for it.

The part from emerging of the Lava mountain till Skullmaster's defeat always gives me the creeps. And the music is so epic! I can't believe that a cartoon so incredibly good got canceled. Despite many popular and awarded cartoons Mighty Max will always be my favorite one because it's the one I grew up with and learned a lot from unlike the crap they give today's kids. The finale is perfect: unconventional, just as the show was and it's a way of showing that MM will always live.

True the ending is strange, maybe a cop-out, and I see why the fans' feelings are divided on that issue. It WOULD have been great to tie it all off with a movie;too bad. Still,you can see a lot more effort went into plot structure and continuity for this cartoon than typical for your average nineties show. Excellent voice talents too, and quippy dialogue that puts the current garbage to shame. Why is this not on DVD?You're an angel for posting these. What a great way to spend a Saturday.

One of the best cartoon series of the 90's, I have a feeling the writers might of wanted to do something more with the end but had to do something else probably because of the network. Still I like how they wrapped it up and ended the series.

since max has knowledge of these events, wouldn't skullmaster have the same knowledge, and cover his bases too, making things just as hard as it already was for max?

Not necessarily. Keep in mind, this knowledge could affect all of the characters that were directly involved in their adventures, thus creating a whole new timeline.

The ending came from an era in the world of cartoons when a "resolution of a return back to the way things were before" was popular. Look at a lot of the drama cartoons of the day. The end of the original Sailor Moon (where it should have been completely ended--NOT continued in R, S, and so on) was like this.

I don't know that Skullmaster would have knowledge of things to come also, but even if he did, Max would be more capable of utilizing his knowledge and would still beat Skullmaster. Skullmaster's possible paths are constrained by what he is trying to accomplish. Max can take any number of paths to interfere with his plans.

If only soccer moms and political correctness weren't in control of tv these days MAYBE cartoons could be this good! Mighty max is easily the best American cartoon to ever be put on the air. The best plot development, stories, and portrayal of evil. You actually see what evil's all about! "Here's your reward for your service, warmonger..". It made young kids think "Well thats a terrible idea to be one of the bad guys!" idk. I can't stand modern cartoons. Cheers to the folks responsible for MM!
