It’s 2019. Mighty No.9 has been long forgotten. This song is one of my my favorite. I just wish the game could have lived up to it’s purpose.

This theme is so good that it hurts. I love how, of all upbeat videogames themes that also posses a short more relaxed and/or sad part, this one has an actual excuse of being like that, as Beck has to fight his malwared siblings.

ya-boi-mees I can sorta see what you mean, and I do agree that Mighty Gunvolt Burst is very similar to classic Mega Man. Here’s the thing: Mighty No. 9 tried to be more than Mega Man. It implemented controls that incentivize going fast. The issue is that the levels are designed like Mega Man levels, which sounds good, but Beck doesn’t control like Mega Man. If levels were linear and incentivized going fast, Mighty No. 9 could have been BETTER than other Mega Man games.

Hmm, personally I'd put this OST above MM8 and the later MMX OSTs. Maybe even MM5's if I ignored some of my fav tracks from that one, but only slightly. Obviously not counting spinoff stuff like Legends or Soccer either. I initially didn't care for MN9's OST, but coincidentally my least favorite tracks were the ones featured in a couple of the demo stages. The others and Ray themes I found pretty good once I played the full game, especially the final stage. I didn't even really mind the rap tbh, although I definitely think that and the Backers list should have been placed in a separate game menu instead of the credits. One of many criticisms on the game, of course.

If Mighty No 9 were just a low-profile indie release that came from out of nowhere, I think people would be far more forgiving of the games flaws and wouldn't be so savage on it. In fact, it may have been a sleeper. Still not a great game, but a great surprise. But it wasn't. It was high profile, tremendously hyped, got tons of backing and press. It was going to be the next big thing and it missed the mark by a country mile. Hence, its issues are magnified tremendously, and will go down as a sad story of what NOT to do when you manage a game. The game isn't bad, but is ultimately a big disappointment, and its a shame.

It was supposed to be a spiritual successor to Mega Man, but so much was changed. The closest we have to a successor to Mega Man is Gunvolt at the moment… which still isn’t very close. (Still fun though.) We have Mega Man 11 though, so that’s cool. (Still waiting patiently for Megaman X9 even though it’ll probably never happen.)

What are you talking about? What about the design changed? Dashes were a part of MMX onward, the overall level design is consistent with megaman (Difficult yet manageable), the bosses all can be taken out in whatever order you want, the bosses can all die to either the regular weapon or you can use their weakness weapons, stages utilize power ups to be easier, and the final level certainly represents many different aspects of MM's classic level design. Name me one reason it wouldn't be that doesn't involve the terrible ads.

@@casual_elitist Not really. That's a minor difference and doesn't change up the game that much. Also they literally tell you about it within seconds into the first level and remind you via hints. If you got hit instead of dashing that's your problem. Love the double standard though. If you fuck up in MM classic because of a poorly designed stage it's just you need to adapt, but if ignoring a clearly labelled part of a game it's suddenly because the game is too hard or shitty.

This is definitely far more passable as a boss theme than the early version, which honestly sounded more like music for a stage select screen. All the same, since they were clearly going for more of a rock style, they really should have also applied it to the second section (0:30, which is practically unchanged from the beta version).

It's kind of odd how this version of the theme seems to lack one of the instruments in at least its intro and the second guitar being different. Also: One of the only tracks in the extensions that actually starts from the intro instead of seemingly starting at the loop point (given the way some tracks under this playlist sound, in lack of better terms to think of, cutoff within the first split second of audio unlike their original counterparts).

For me, this theme was the track that stood out to me most. I bought MN9 at Target on WiiU last year while I was on medical leave. For the deal I got, I can't complain much about the game. Everyone else was still selling it for $29.99. Target had it clearance tagged at $14.97. Decided to buy it. It had been marked down in the system to $8.99. I sometimes refer to the game and Beck as "NOT Mega Man."
