They don't make them like this anymore. THE BEST! Where ever they are, I am sure the Swallow, Arrow, and Maestro are bringing joy in the eternal jam session. Swallow was the man in the USA carnivals. THE BEST! REAL SOCA TO THE WORLD!

Remember...on a boat ride on a Friday night in 1980ish. The Song was new, we were coming back to shore and this song was playing, and EVERYONE was dancing, jumping around and singing. It was Crazy(in a good way) The boat was rocking, like it was going to Sink. We got off in Manhattan, jumped on a Party bus and went to a Dancehall on Eastern PWAY and Nostrand (all you brooklynites in the house) and Partied till 8:00 Saturday AM. One of the best times in my register.. J.

This Soca classic was arranged by the late Art De Coteau with Pelham Goddard of Charlie's Roots on synthesizer and was recorded at KH Studios in Trinidad in mid 1979. Btw there were massive soca party hits in the years before this song came out like "Sugar Bum Bum" from Lord Kitchener and "Soca Jam" from Calypso Rose that were both recorded in late 1977 and were massive hits for the 1978 T&T Carnival season. In 1978 Merchant also gave us his massive soca party anthem "Um-Bah-Ya-O". Also we should not forget about "Sweet Music" by Lord Shorty and "Savage" by Maestro that were both massive soca party hits during 1976. Lord Shorty also had his massive soca hit "Endless Vibrations" which came out in 1974 that started the whole 1970's trend of calypsonians switching from the traditional calypso to the new soca beat and bassline structure.

@SocaPhD. Thanks for the insight Fam. My people were not heavy music enthusiasts & I was too young (in that era) to be buying my own records or going out to fetés. So, I'm now discovering that most Caribbean radio stations were really just 'touching-the-surface' in terms of the numerous classic tunes recorded by many of our artistes in the late 1970's thru the mid 1980's. (Art DeCoteau was a composition genius).

I was 18 yrs old in the hight of the party scene when this song was out. the Caribbean radio station declared it the best party song in the Caribbean. it was the the hottest Soca tune out. thanks for posting
