The idea of Jane Foster becoming Thor. I think is a new and creative direction to further the mythology of thor in the comics. I just feel it was poorly excuited . The reason being is , it is okay to up lift a character like Jane Foster but not to the extent of undermining and pointing down the original thor. I think the reason why I like the Eric Masterson version of thor so much is because he was a humble character. He never wanted to be thor but while the original thor was gone he wanted to honor his legacy. He also made it his priority to find the original thor when he was missing. He later took on a new mantle and became his own character called Thunderstrike. Reading the Jane Foster version of thor she comes off as a selfish character. My reason for saying this is because while Eric Masterson never felt comfortable in the role of thor and wanted to do everything in his power to bring back the original thor back. Jane loves being Thor and comes off as being additcted to power. She doesn't mind being called thor and abopted the same Shakespearean way of talking like thor does. She did not show to much of concern of thor being unworthy either. It was as if Jason Aaron wanted to replace the original thor with Jane Foster. And in that aspect I feel the story falls flate to me. But those are just my thoughts and opinions.

Nah it’s not that it’s that she mainly existed to facilitate Odinson’s arc. Her existence makes Odinson feel inadequate and makes him grow. She doesn’t grow herself. We know that she believes Thor should be human because that’s what keeps her humble, but if that’s wrong then she needs to grow to realize it’s wrong and if it’s right she should be helping others understand that it’s right but we don’t get character development for Jane so she does neither. The comic run is so preoccupied with the plot and Odinson that it give no time to Jane.

She is not Thor, even if she is calling herself that. Its not like Miles Morales goes out calling himself Peter, or Amadeus Cho called himself Doctor Bruce Banner. What is so wrong about this is she calls herself Thor. I have no issue with a Female power bearer. I do not see why she changed her name. This is not the first time there was a story of her wielding Mjolnir - it was first in What If in 1978 August. She called herself Thordis, which is a uncommon Swedish female divine declension of the god names. So name Thor, which means Thunder, become Thordis. A more common alteration is Thora, which is the same thing - Female declension of Thunder. That story made sense, as she found the hammer instead of Donald Blake, but they pretty much don't have a transforming Thor anymore. But the real issue, is how poorly the story advances to be gimmicky. War Thor was far worse a part of this storyline than Jane Foster acting out of character for her own decades of comic history.
