Overall agreed: the whole "Domino's delivery car" backstory made it feel really natural. The only bit that felt a bit contrived was putting Don on his bike when there was still room for more pizzas in the back, but clearly done for comedy purposes and he was clearly up for the whole thing; although MCM missed a trick: putting him on a Domino's delivery moped would have been way better!

As someone who has also just completed a 5 year ground up restoration I can't stress enough how important it is to get a top quality brake double flaring tool if you want to make custom lines. Spend a bit of time and practice cutting and cleaning the ends to be flared and don't forget the nut. It's a very satisfying job once you get the hang of it but cheap tools just will not work properly and its better to spend the money the first time for the best result.
@mightycarmods8 күн бұрын
Yeah absolutely. I've had to re-do them many times over the years to get it perfect, and it has to be perfect!
@recoilrob3248 күн бұрын
Even with good tooling some brake lines are just SO hard they are a bugger to flare properly. The copper coated steel available many places is soft enough to bend and flare while holding up great in use.
@bgee4618 күн бұрын
Cheap flaring tools are just the pits. You will waste more money on line than if you just got a decent tool to begin with. Nothing worse than starting your flare and the knurls strip out.

Someone give the marketing person who pitched this Dominos promotion a rise. This is the best ad for Dominos Pizza anyone has ever done. Excellent point on hiring all your own delivery drivers. Man the Domino's here in the states would never be this cool! I worked for Domino's for I think close to 10 years across a few different stores here in San Diego, CA. Started out as an insider, became an assistant manager, then "demoted" to a driver after realizing they were making double my pay when I cashed them out. First car I delivered in was a Ford Escort ZX2. Eventually bought my Ford Focus ST in 2014, which I still have to this very day. Paid off all through Domino's deliveries. Sometimes I do miss working in Domino's and doing all the deliveries. But with a big boy job, I definitely make more money to support the hobbies and family that I love. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to apply and work for a few months for nostalgia's sake 🤣 banger of a video guys!

I've been a store manager for a chain pizza place awhile but for a bit I was backup delivering pizzas in my 2004 VW Golf GTI and sometimes my, at the time, my 2019 Subaru STI. It was good times. I remember one day I had been delivering since 11am and it was probably about 7 at night, I had a few hours to go. I went home to swap the STI for the GTI because I got tired of that clutch. I'm from the US. We're not used to manuals here. The GTI was so much easier to deliver in. Shifted so easy and smooth. Clutch was light. Previous dude put a burble tune on it though which was a bit annoying. People knew when I pulled up though. haha. I miss that thing. A really wise older delivery driver I worked with 10 years ago gave me a lot of advice. I didn't follow everything he told me and I really wish I did. (I should have bought a cheap car 10 years ago instead of buying newer and invested younger) I know a delivery driver that just saved his money, worked a ton of hours and bought a house cash with it back in the mid to late 2000s. He never did car loans or mortgages. He worked on his car himself. It was a 1997 Toyota Corolla. Not sure if he still has it. He invested early. Always shopped for the cheapest car insurance. I learned a lot from him. I know he has a least one maybe two pizza stores now. He basically retired early delivering pizzas.

Great story, Marty! My first job was sorting mail at a post office and working at a tire shop, if anyeone cares

My son was a Dominoes delivery driver. Casual who got no more shifts when he turned 21 (full pay), like all franchises I suppose you get the good with the bad, but expect more from such a well known brand. Love the Gem.

I love simplicity in a vehicle, so this is my favourite build so far. Great looking car.

For those wondering, that's Strathfield Domino's. If you're ever in the area, have a go at Faheem's Fast Food about 4 doors up. Their Chicken Tikka is the best in Sydney!

What a gem (pun intended) of a video. Marty is a natural at interviewing and this guy is a legend. Domino's profits come here and they probably even pay tax. Respect.

I really want a poster of the Gemini with the dominos thing on the roof. It looks so right

Gemini was my first car too, long time ago, I'm still building 4 cylinder Japanese cars but now with turbos!

Did old mate get behind the wheel at least? To have the CEO of Domino's driving a Gemini again...your Gemini.

What a cool looking car! These were an Opel Kadett around me as a kid, but I never seen a Coupé one before. Lovely colour as well.

Tried Dominos the other day, been a few years, Can't believe how small their large pizzas are now. Toppings thrown from 10,000 feet up, so scabby.

I had one the other day for the first time in god knows, and I was surprised how good it was.
