Such a show! Man what style! The man is incredible! The band is incredible! The Coconuts are divine! His clothes in this number are largely based on the old "zoot suit" look, as in "a zoot suit, with a reet pleat and a drape shape" or as Cab Calloway sang about it in other words. A brilliant artist like Kid Creole is a Knowledge Keeper of the traditions, he and his band are rock'n'rolls treasures. Hats off to you, Kid -- you really bring it, bring it all, and you polish it, add yourself to it, and extend it to new heights! Salute, Sir!

I caught 3 nights of this tour. 2 in Edinburgh. 1 in Glasgow. As a 16 year old boy I was as obsessed by the coconuts as I was by August and Coatimundi. (He's small, he's bald, but most of all he's adorable) I was word perfect with Off the Coast of Me, Fresh Fruit, and Topical Gangsters, standing in the front row in my zoot suit, two tone brouges and 8 panel cap. In a world of 80s electronica, that band was a tight as two coats of paint live, and the coconuts' dance routines were equally as tight. Without a shadow of doubt, KC&tC were the musical and visual highlight of the 80s.

Ha, I remember seeing these cats play around this time and being blown away by their stage presence. 😃 Also a young Bass player I remember being extremely impressed with how funky the female Bassist (Carol Coleman?) was. They had 4 fiber optic palm trees custom made for their full stage setup and in the late eighties I walked into a dance club that was located in the square of the little city of Sonoma California and was surprised to learn from owner after I asked him if he had his palm trees made to look like the ones I had seen years earlier on stage with Kid Creole? He was surprised that I recognized them and said they were actually the same ones and explained how he knew them and he bought them from the band to untilize for his vision as a permanent installation in his club on both sides of inside entrance walkway leading to dance floor. Cool huh 😎
