Oh don’t be daft! Oh, “we’re being invaded,” are we? How dramatic. The imagery alone is something out of a poorly written dystopian novel. Except, instead of tanks and soldiers storming the shores, you’ve got people with suitcases, hoping for a chance at survival. Terrifying, truly. And let’s be real-it’s like reverse Uno. Only this time, instead of guns and bombs, they’re using Jedi mind tricks to stroll into the UK. “These aren’t the immigrants you’re looking for.” Maybe if they spoke the King’s English or carried a teacup, or greeted you with Top of the morning mate! you’d feel less “invaded.” It’s funny, though, how the same folks crying invasion conveniently forget centuries of actual invasions-the kind involving boats, muskets, and “civilization” being forcibly exported across continents. But sure, let’s clutch our pearls over a few people trying to escape war, famine, or economic devastation. Priorities, right?
@joshbamber8 күн бұрын
@@kiaraditmasa fair points, but why do you think it’s only fully grown men coming here, leaving their families in the place they’re trying to escape?
@kiaraditmasa8 күн бұрын
@@joshbamber it has always been a historical fact that men tend to leave wives and kids behind until they know where they are going is safe and them send for them. It is not unusual for it to be mostly men. Unless there is a natural disaster and the women and kids have no choice but to flee with their men. When most European explorers left Europe they did not take women or kids with them. In the case of most men who leave to make a living in another country they may just want to stay til they make enough to establish themselves back home. When men send for their wives and kids that speaks to them planing on being permanent residence of their new country.
