Sorry for the janky awesome screenshare issue. This is really nice because to me init.lua actually seems less obscure than the average .vimrc in terms of commands. Its vibes are more like that of real code. I definitely will come back to this later. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the kind words! I'm planning on re-recording this talk this month with some more details, so stay tuned for some better quality recordings on the topic!

@@smithbm2316 This was the video I needed last week! Ironically got through most of this in a day, got stuck on terminal keymappings not working... and that's where you ran out of time! I'll go check out the Github for that, but just wanted to add in this was useful to "shore up" some stuff I just copy/pasted out of vim files. Also TIL: helpgrep - I've been forcing myself to "read the (amazing) help files" more this year, but that's REALLY gonna help when I can't figure out what help file I'm even looking for! Guessing a re-recording didn't happen? Spent the start of my aforementioned hackday looking for exactly this, so I think there is still a tonne of value for people making the move to have a video like this. One with the new 0.8 keymap API would be even better (not just because that's the thing I'm having trouble getting to work right now!)

Ah - using [[ abc ]] to wrap strings! That was it. Darned '' was upsetting lua :)

Awesome presentation! I've been wanting to move my init.vim to lua but never took the time to research about it. Thanks for the heads up, now i can kickstart my new configs >:D Your talk was great, even with the time constraints and the video quality :D
