@michel777ification it's a new company. There is always room for improvement. Thier new 480watt dimmable with separate UV channels is phenomenal. Since UV diodes are usually inefficient and burn out well be before white light diodes and plants don't really require UV till late in flower its a great concept. Still no where near as efficient as say a 2 foot Agromax pure UV T5 is tho. All in all this company has come to compete. Imho

Great review as always. Its nice to see how close of values we got for PPF/Watt considering that I am using a cheap quantum sensor (not your nice apogee one). I do have a question though, why do you alway adjust the height until you get a reading of 1000? Does that optimize the efficiency reading somehow?
@victorsupreme2144 жыл бұрын

Either of you know why he calculated ppfd/watt rather than the standard ppf/watt that's listed as one of the most important data points in reviews of any led light I've seen? Unless they are the same which I'm pretty sure is not the case, this stat will only confuse people who don't catch him saying ppfd per watt and then assume the number refers to ppf/watt like they're used to which makes any attempt to compare output efficiency of the fixture in this video to any other fixture based on the standard ppe values they list
@SmartGrowAutomation4 жыл бұрын
@@TheSaak While historically PPFD and PPF were sometimes used interchangeably, (see Dr. Bugbee's video covering their historical usage), I think the correct way to think about it is PPF covers all photons emitted from the light, and PPFD covers all photons that hit a certain area (1 sq meter). Howwver in this specific case though you can somewhat treat them interchangeably: if you measure with the light close enough to the grow area and with highly reflective walls then the amount of light that hits the grow area is close enough to the total photons emitted from the light. Hope that makes sense.

I'm surprised you didn't mention they're giving you the lm301h diodes with a mean well driver. Unless you suspect some type of false advertising? I know that's certainly a concern of mine at this price point. If they're really using that chip, shouldn't the efficacy come in closer to the 3.1 ųmols range? Dont get me wrong, 1.99 is great, but to me that sounds more like the 301b chips.

Or reflective walls? Shane usually uses his with the Quantum type boards, but it's square (3'x3', or a 2'x2'?). I don't think I've seen him use 2'x4' Mylar reflective walls before? Yes, you would get some higher PAR numbers, on the edges mostly, depending on how the fixtures LED chips are placed, and any lens the chips may have. The Samsung LM301B's aren't the most recent generation chips. Samsung's "H" Series "Horticulture" LED's. The LM301H are now available, and some great deals are on eBay. I just purchased 2-240W Quantum type boards (Samsung "H" series boards) w/Meanwell Driver, etc, for $190 each (to replace my 630W DE-CMH). I could have gotten the same board/driver with the LM301B's(like "Spider Farmer"-1000S-95W-under $150), but 240W each for $120(still great light!)! Can't beat that! No wonder "Spider Farmer" Xmas sales were on!

How much is it? I am looking to create some grow areas, not the usual grow room but rather use existing space in my kitchen to grow micro greens and other small herbs. These new leds seem to be the future of growing but I am struggling to take the leap from the traditional grow lights and make the investment into leds. Allan Larmour ::: I’d be concerned about the UV output not being safe for our eyesight. For sprouts & veggies, try full spectrum fluorescents, still blinding, but not as damaging.
@allanlarmour74604 жыл бұрын
@@dallimamma I use the T5's and the CFL's bulbs for some of my needs already. Keep some "mother" plants under CFL's and I use the T5's for clones but for growth I still use HP's and MH mixed. The sky is usually gray and it rains two days out of three and that's in the summer so other than spuds I grow everything indoors. I do like the safety aspect of the LED's and they are cheaper to run. Some of the bulbs I use can explode if they get splashed and they will cause serious injury if touched but I have had really good results with what I use so it's hard to break away from what I know. When are led manufacturers going to produce a light fixture that combines all the parts of the spectrum being emitted into a sourcepoint? The problem with most of these led plant lights is 'spotting'. Typically led fixtures used for plant lighting emit different wavelengths off of different areas of the light-emitting surface so that different parts of the plant get a different spectrum.
