Let us not forget. When they first met Cotto was seemingly unstoppable and a knock out artist. He got destroyed by Margarito and Cotto took a knee disgracing himself. Let us remember he was winning the fight last time but thought he could go toe to toe. This time he hung on for dear life and was headlocking. This was not revenge nor a vindication. Cotto was protected by the doctors and was awarded a TKO and did not earn a KO. Look at his face. it looks like he hit a windshield.

For me, the main difference was that he set his feet when punching, instead of punching whilst moving backwards. And after he landed his shots he either tied Margarito up or turned his man whilst keeping a high guard, whereas in the last fight he landed a combo and backed away with his hands low. This is years later margarito had almost 50 fights and coming off two beating to Mosley and paquaio and had a crushed orbital in the latter. In the last fight, Cotto ran out of gas around the 7th round. Thats when Margarito boxed it out. Margarito has great stamina and a chin of steel. I do believe he could have lasted the last couple of rounds, but I dont think he would have won. You can say Cotto was running, but I think he was boxing smart. Keeping Margarito in circles so he cant corner him but throwing nice shots in there. Though he was tired, he would have won. Even with the last couple of rounds. I'm happy with the fight.

To be honest margarito came with same game plan as he did for the first fight the ONLY difference was the pacquio affects that left on margarito's eye that played the changing factor that caused the fight to finish early as magarito defiantly had a chance in the rematch as cotto was running out of gas towards the last fight but cotto to came more prepared and condition .. Cotto will never be considered on of the greats in Puerto Rican Boxing. Puerto Rican boxers were and are warriors. That is why Mexican and Puerto Rican matches are watched. They are usually wars. The first fight between these two was a classic because they went balls out. This time Cotto was wearing down as usual and became a UFC fighter with all that clinching/bear hugging and dirty tactics.
