Bach dijo: "el único propósito de la música debería ser la gloria de Dios y la recreación del espíritu humano". Cuanto más ponderaba esta frase, más liberaba mi corazón. La música se nos daba para glorificar a Dios en el cielo y para edificar a los hombres y las mujeres en la tierra. A remarkable performance. Not only are all the singers excellent, but the way some memorized their parts in order to act out the arias and interact with each other gave it an added dimension that I've never seen before, a unique experience. I've always marveled at the chorus at 1:16:20 ("Lasset uns den nicht zerteilen") with its jazzy syncopation so ahead of its time.

Very intense performance spiritually and dramatically. And no - one to a part - nonsense, but with full choir. This immediately becomes clear in the grand opening choir with almost a somewhat aggressive rhythmic accompaniment, which goes further than I have ever heard. The evangelist sometimes goes a bit over the line in his expression and the soloists sometimes use a bit more vibrato than I would like, but otherwise this is a magnificent performance.

This recording is by far the best I have ever seen on KZbin. It's only a pity that the members of the choir did not know their part by heart. At least for the turba choirs this would have added to the otherwise heart-stopping and intense performance.

Schitterend!. Deze zeer beperkte scenische uitvoering en ook de gekozen kleding, brengt het verhaal zoveel dichterbij in vergelijking met een concertante uitvoering.
