Kiyone Mabiki is one of those wildcard characters in the Tenchi Universe. She's canon in every series except the OVA, but her character as well as her relationship with Mihoshi is unmistakably similar to Noike Jurai in the recent OVAs.

​@@jacobitewiseman3696 Game Boy was the first handheld game system. You couldn't really get both long battery life and good graphics back then - it had to be one or the other. And you had to throw out the AA batteries each time which was expensive and wasteful since it was before affordable rechargeable batteries came out. The Atari Lynx and Game Gear came out a little bit after and I had both but I played the Game Boy far more due to the batteries lasting much longer (and only using 4 instead of 6), the smaller/more portable size, and the large library of good games despite the very basic graphics. In fact, even though it was the most primitive, I'd say the Game Boy and Game Boy Color were my all-time favorite handhelds and I've had them all. I spent countless hours playing Game Boy on my trips as a young lad and have a lot of good memories from it.

Pioneer JP had a bilingual initiative policy in place at the time to promote education, IIRC. So, early Tenchi releases in Japan were bilingual audio (but without an English subtitle option). Which makes the original JP DVD releases worth having, as you get the dub without any meddling with "localising" the video to censor or add English credits. Plus you get the bonus extras (interviews, music videos, etc). Given that the new BD releases of series such as Universe are monolingual NTSC SD (merely more episodes per disc, not HD remasters), those first press bilingual jewel case JP R2 DVDs are still precious gems with lovely cover art, etc.

It seems to be set in the OVA universe, but is a branch point to Pretty Sammy that acts like a pilot episode for a spin-off, I think. It's like they used a side-story to play with ideas that did not continue in the OVA. The fact that Mihoshi is telling a tall story with obviously fanciful embellishments makes it easy to wipe the slate afterwards. It is the Tenchi equivalent of Star Trek TOS Assignment Earth, perhaps.
