18:50 i dont understand why Sultana Hurrem and Sultana Mihrimah both have to bow to Hatice and Shah. Yes the later two are born Sultanas but their father, the former Sultan, is no longer alive. Whereas Sultana Hurrem is the legal wife of the current Sultan and Sultana Mihrimah is the daughter of the current sultan. So in my eyes hurrem and Mihrimah are of higher status then Hatice and Shah.

Well Hurrem was a slave then freed but is still no royal blood, so she has to bow, doesn't matter her rank. I think she doesn't outrank by being the valide the sultanas with sultan blood, they are also all older than Hurrem. So this is why she has to bow. Mihrimah is younger so of course she has to bow infront of everyone. Sah and Hatice outrank Mihrimah. I think it is about the blood that flows in their vains and the birth order. Hatice and Shah were also both royal blood, their mother Ayse Hafsa was actually a Ukrainian Princess and the Sultan is the Sultan obviously. Mihrimas is so to say half Sultan blood and half non monarch blood. Idk. It also bothers me that they always have to bow. Hurrem also had to bow infront of Ibrahim for a very long time and also infront of Mahidevran and Gülfem.

Because the producers of this series just did random stuff and had no idea about protocol. No chance Mihrimah would have to curtsy to anyone. If we will go deeper into this the classic European bow/curtsy thing did not even exist in the Ottoman Empire. They just did random stuff in this series all the time...

Actually, what most historical accounts say is that Hurrem Sultan was the first to be bestowed​ the rank of Haskei. She was the legal wife of the ruler himself, thus elevating her status higher than the Ottoman princesses. So, no matter what her background was, no she would not bow to Shah, it would be quite the opposite. As for Mihrimah, she wouldn't be obliged to bow to any of the Ottoman princesses as she is one herself and in fact the daughter of the ruling sultan not the deceased. In one way, she outranks Shah. Hurrem is still a slave born doesn't make any difference and as for mihrimah, hatice is older than her and her aunt so it's a form of respect I'm pretty sure.
