I got this same edition from Gemini200 2 years ago with the British paint scheme, but I'm still waiting for Gemini to re-release this Air France one again or for some one to resell theirs on eBay. Excellent video 👍👍

Nice review! I have the 1:200 Gemini Landor Concorde coming on Tuesday. Also - I’ve heard you can push the nose in when its in the up position and close the big gap?

Thank you! Yep, that's true.

Very late reply but I should receive the Landor version for my birthday very soon. Absolute favorite livery, even though I'm French! I cannot wait to put it on my shelves. Pretty hard to find compared to the Air France and the last BA liveries!

The things on the main gear are actually skid guards they deflect water from being ingested into the engine. The Concorde also doesn't have an APU (to save weight). The Concorde also has no flaps, all the flight controls on the back of the wings are elevons. Good video though I will get one of these now :)
@MiJiTHD8 жыл бұрын
Thank you and I appreciate all of the info you stated. What's weird is that I knew all of those facts about the Concorde but I got very caught up in modern commercial aircraft especially when I was engineer trainee at Air New Zealand. The thing that is most odd is the fact Gemini Jets printed an exhaust (which I thought was the APU exhaust) when there is no APU. It's not the cabin pressure relief valve as they aren't constantly open like the exhaust on the model and are positioned underneath the aircraft. To be honest with you though, these three things you stated were only thought of as I was making the review and wasn't planned beforehand.
@SW20Turbo8 жыл бұрын
yeah. definitely a good review though! It kind of takes a lot to get me to buy 1:200, however I don't have a Concorde thats not at 1:250, so this seams like a good one to get especially since the reverser buckets move!
@MiJiTHD8 жыл бұрын
Rage Master I'm very glad you think so, thank you. I think as a one-off 1:200 model, you should get it or maybe the BA version.

Nice model, but I have to correct you. Concorde is not designed as a canard. The strakes below the cockpit window don't fulfill the purpose of an elevator. They are just strakes, also have their purpose, but can't be moved to elevate the aircraft
@MiJiTHD6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! If I mentioned that they are elevators, I apologize. They definitely are strakes or even fixed canards, if you will. They're used to give the Concorde a greater angle of attack at low speed.

Check on ebay or search for them directly, a company called Lupa uses identical molds as G.J and JC Wings, has a decently detailed model with similar features and fixed gear, could be a substitute until G.J. runs another batch of Concorde.

Yeah, I know. I'm so clued up with the stereotypical version of a commercial aircraft that I assumed it must have it's own independent elevators. I love the Concorde and knew about the canards but never delved into the purpose of them even with my engineering knowledge of control surfaces. Thank you!

@b320max83 жыл бұрын
No offense but where in the world did you get the idea from that these strakes below the cockpit are some sort of canards/elevators? How could the possibly be? 😂 These things increase directional stability. As seen on some 707s in the underside of the tailcone
@MiJiTHD3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the criticism. No need to worry about offending me. When researching to find what they were before I made the video, the only result I found was a Concorde history blog mentioning that they were canards. Of course I tried to verify this but there was no other mention in my searches at the time and believed that was correct. I did however, many months later, come across a, then recent, artcle detailing the engineering behind the Concorde where my info was proven wrong. Obviously, looking back at this video with the info I now know, regarding my improved knowledge of control surfaces, I feel red-faced about that part in this video.
