It's a shame she didn't release another album. She's got quite a good voice. She was only 14 when she released this. I'd love to know why she didn't stick with singing. Too much talent to go to waste.

There's a book by her former manager, Marty Rendleman, called Singing Your Way to Stardom, that discusses what happened with Mikaila's singing career. The record company's profit off the album was less than they spent to produce it, and Rendleman theorized that because Mikaila was so young compared to Britney, Christina, etc., she couldn't compete with what they were doing as far as dancing around and baring your midriff and that sort of thing. So, despite the fact that she has this fantastic voice, the label wasn't interested in working with her for a sophomore album. They didn't drop her, though--they "tabled" the project, so technically she still has a contract with them and there would be all sorts of legal implications if she were to seek out another label to work with. It's a real shame. :(
