But the defenders heal basically immediately after. The laser power is good in retrospect, but the defenders core-healing was extraordinarily overpowered, as it healed the rainbow areas almost immediately. The invaders rarely ever got close to the core because of how quickly defenders could heal.

Yeah, it does completely invalidate all of the damage that the attackers did. Thus, instead of a back-and-forth war of attrition, it just becomes a battle of whether or not the invaders can get lucky with a series of attacks in close succession, before everything is reset. Probably would have been more interesting if the repair fired more often, but only repaired ~50% of the damaged areas.

Maybe do something similar to this where: the defender has low dmg but high hp, the attacker has high dmg, but low hp. I’m curious who will win! If he does do it then I vote defender Teamer/1v1 ruiner/shielder: (i had fun with the name!) it shoots shields at any side. Add on: the other side will attack the support if helping another side, it cannot shoot, it has high health, it can only shoot shields that are harmless but help with the sides defenses (Shielder idea by ray30k, add on by gallon of milk

@@ray30k the third catagory could be Support which will provide health and barriers like you said, but it will be slow as well as being attack by the one side after helping another (if Support helped DPS then Tank would attack Support and vice-versa) edit: if support helped DPS then DPS would protect support from Tank, and vice-versa. (also Support would have no weapons or shields)

The lore: The defenders were building a new fusion reactor core, but they needed energy that was only available from 5 rainbow marbles to get it working. While they were working on it, they heard that some people didn’t want it to get up and running, despite how much good it would do to everyone, so they put up as many defences as they could while they tried to get the core running. Each colour had a different role: Yellow would try to stop the attacks. Red would repair any damage to the outer wall. Green would repair damage to the main containment unit for the core. Rainbow would kick-start the core, and Blue would make a vortex that could manufacture rainbow marbles. The roles of the attackers: Grey attackers would make a normal attack. White attackers would make a laser. Dark grey attackers would make a bomb. Monochrome attackers would do a special attack, and black attackers would fly into the hub area of the defender marbles and explode, killing several other defender marbles in the process. The rest is this video.

That was actually exactly what I wanted to happen. I was curious about what the attacker's 'special' was, but I also wanted to see the rainbow shield. Honestly, I was underwhelmed by the special attack, it wasn't worth the wait. The rainbow shield, on the other hand, was definitely worth it.

On its own, it's not even a game changer, it's just a really expensive attack that does a bit of damage across several segments. The laser, on the other hand, can single-handedly destroy like half the defense of a segment, or even more if the segment next to the one it hits is gone and the segment it attacks lines up just right.

The laser does extreme damage and can't be countered but can't outright destroy the core thanks to its positioning. Bombs do the best damage after the laser and could destroy the core, but can be easily countered with interception, refraction or swirl. The special didn't do as much damage as either of them, but was capable of destroying the core while also having no counter.

Both sets of moves are quite similar, having one neutral tool (Interception and Normal shot), one move that bypasses all but one option (Heal and Laser), one move which specifically counters something else (Reflection and Bomb), one "super" move (Special and Swirl), and one miscellaneous option (Invader and Shield). Normal shot is a basic neutral tool with no inherent strengths or weaknesses. It technically loses to everything, but can be put out very quickly and happens twice per input, so it's good for softening these defenses for little cost. (Also, Invader does have the value of offsetting the difference between marble production, because Defenders cycle through the 4 marbles they produce compared to the Attackers' 5, but for the sake of matchups it's not relevant.) Bomb is countered by basically everything, being shut down by Interception, easily fueling Swirl and losing to Reflection (it's the only thing I can say that loses to Reflection because at least Normal having two shots is good for poking at it for little value), but its burst damage is good enough to counter Heal. Unfortunately, it can't use its good burst damage and hit the centre of the core at the same time. Laser bypasses all defenses and can kill off some Reflection shields, but isn't effective enough to counter Heal if they happen at the same time. It can't hit the centre of the core, but I don't think its damage would make it a worthwhile core finisher. Finally... the issue. Special seems to be aiming to be a finisher tool by its position, and also due to the fact that the other strong options can't actually end the game. However, by the time it's unlocked, the defenders have both Heal, which similar to Laser, also outheals Special, and Swirl, which directs the shots far away from the centre of the core, making it unable to be a finisher. While it could theoretically be a mid-ground between Bomb and Laser, it lacks the burst damage of Bomb while keeping Laser's weaknesses. Basically... Heal lasts too long, and when the Attackers attack while it happens, it isn't balanced. Laser loses to Heal, Special loses to Heal, and while Bomb does counter it, it's countered by everything else, making the Defenders nigh invulnerable when they set up Swirl. If this were to be balanced evenly, what I think should have been changed is Special should entirely be executed quicker- it lasts for less duration, but deals more damage, giving it a bit more burst damage output to fulfil its role as a finisher.

Am I the only one who thought the defender's powers were just slightly overpowered? The defender's repair effect was a great idea but how it worked caused it to be virtually impossible for the attacker to even hit the last 5 or so layers of the defenders core. Also there was much less room for failure on attacker's part, but because of how attackers canons were set up there was more ways to fail, completely downgrading attacker's abilities no matter how good. The rainbow worm-hole thing that the defender's blue cannon made also completely rendered a lot of the attacker's abilities useless, and gave the defender the win ability. And yes, I am aware that you need the ability to win, to win. But thats the problem, the defender completely eliminated the attacker's ability to win. Defense only makes it harder to win, it doesent (or in a game setting shouldn't) make it completely impossible to win altogether. Tldr: the defender was just slightly overpowered. Change my mind. Btw, I still loved this, don't think I said the things I said out of hate for defender.

repair seemed a bit oppressive, fully repairing the entire core each time, meanwhile the special cannon was basically worthless doing nearly nothing... i'd have swapped repair and reflector around, had reflector do a continuous big repair to the reflection shield while repair fixed only a small amount of a single core block. Either that or had special cannon smoke linger and damage over time.
