Idk, Hypomania is a thing and perhaps she’s talking about that, but used the misnomer like seemingly 90% of the population does… She’s been very open about her mental health and disorder eating, it’s very possible she has BP2. She went to 4 different stores… made a response she normally wouldn’t, didn’t comprehend a comment correctly… sounds like some mild hypomania I’ve had. And she has zero obligation to tell you everything about her health. There’s plenty to critique of her if you want, but I don’t think speculating on her mental health and debating if it’s valid for her to claim something makes you any better than her… And no, I’m not a fan. I nothing her. I don’t watch her content and I very much dislike that she doesn’t always carful disclose ads, but I also don’t hate her. I just have a heart and can recognize she’s a human and this video was not her pushing product. It’s kinda weird and sick how people talk about her when she’s just being vulnerable.

@FAUXAudios-TheSmolestBean4 ай бұрын
As someone clinically diagnosed with BPD and Depression, Mikayla's trying so damn hard to "look depressed". That's clearly stereotyping. You can be depressed while looking good. You can be depressed while having the ability to function.
@FAUXAudios-TheSmolestBean4 ай бұрын
I'm not trying to invalidate her but her approach to the situation she's in is unhealthy. Pointing out that she's underdressed and just saying she's depressed, so she goes to target to cope instead of going to therapy (which is stereotypical). You can't just self-diagnose, and it's so common with influencers to self-diagnose that they either have anxiety and depression but they just feel sad. She's allowed to feel what she wants or needs to feel but she can't just straight up diagnose yourself with a mental illness that a lot of people are suffering from.
@FAUXAudios-TheSmolestBean4 ай бұрын

Man as someone who’s used shopping (and food) as an unhealthy coping mechanism it’s so frustrating watching someone go through that in real time but ADVERTISE IT as a reasonable way to cope?! Like no! The last thing you need when you’re not feeling good about your life is to make yourself struggle more by piling things on! Cause the minute you get out of that headspace you’ll see all the WASTE done on impulse and momentary dopamine boosts! I’m still having to clean through the mess of my over-consumption and it’s done way more to weigh me down then it EVER did to make me happy!
@elvingearmasterirma72414 ай бұрын
May I suggest therapy methods instead of shopping. Relying on shoppimg to cope can lead to expensive and bad coping mechanisms. Ensure youve drunk enough water and eaten. If you can go for a walk or stand in the sun for a bit. Jogging in place is still exercise! Dont let anyone tell you otherwise! Open the curtains and air your rooms (if the air quality allows it) Journal your emotions. Try it out. It doesnt work for everyone, but wont know till you try.

@@nativegirl8186 also to add on before I forget. Half done is better than not doing it at all when it comes to hygiene. If you struggle to brush your teeth, invest in an electric toothbrush. (It was a game changer for me) If you are too exhausted to stand in a shower, sit while you wash yourself. There is no law against it. If youre struggling with laundry, underwear takes priority. You can wear the same shirt for a bit. But clean underwear is a must for health. And when you are in a place where you can function relatively well. Please please put things in place to help yourself when a depressive episode kicks in. Prep can make things so much easier and less stressful. Even if its not something you want to do, when you have thay energy, clean your room and house. Sweep, vacuum. Wash your bedsheets and pillow sheets. Be kind to yourself as well. Depression makes it easy for one to not care about yourself. To consider yourself not worthy of effort or anything good. And the depression is wrong. You guys got this okay? There is a little bit of simple psychology behind the 'dopamined out' comment (like stated by Angelika). The happiness you get from wealth isn’t exponential. That’s why you often see so many celebrities start have declines in mental health at a certain point, because once you get enough wealth and attention (and free stuff), there is nothing really left to strive for and you feel as though all your goals have been met. But humans thrive on 'having a purpose' or the allusion of one, and once that is gone, one can begin to feel empty because they feel as though there is nothing left for them to do until they find something new to focus on (But of course there are other factors that contribute that we don’t know about and possibly will never know about because people have lives of the internet) Just wanted to re-explain for the people that may need it lmao

Fact is she doesn’t say that, she says ‘ugh I just need to get out of the house’ if she said ‘some bad stuffs been happening in my personal life so we’re heading out of the house for some distraction’ people would have been so supportive. She doesn’t, not till after people have said something she doesn’t like.

I have cyclothymic disorder which is some milder form of bipolar. Seeing people shopping when they are "depressed" is triggering. I'm glad I don't watch these people cause it would send me into a spiral... especially that we don't all have their budgets to go on a shopping spree everytime we feel low. I also wonder, is she actually mentally ill or is she just using "depressed" and "manic" like people use OCD? Cycling, so going from down to manic/hypomanic is not just terms you throw around to sound relatable. I wish her well, but she should be more careful with her wording.

as someone with bpd, depression and anxiety, i would NEVER comment on someone else’s mental health. i think that comment was very insensitive and honestly gross, just bc “it’s mikayla” doesn’t mean it’s okay to say shit like that.

for the record i don’t like mikayla and think her and others should get into legal trouble for not disclosing ads

While I agree with your point on commenting on people's mental health issues, I just wanted to expand upon you mentioning Bipolar Disorder, unless you were stating that you struggle with a Borderline Personality Disorder, then I apologize. The two main components of Bipolar Disorder is Depression and Mania. You can also have Anxiety, but it's not the diagnosing factor of Bipolar Disorder. Bipolar Disorder is having extreme "high's and low's" which is the Depression and the Mania. I just wanted to mention this because alot of people who have Bipolar Disorder understand the depression part of it, but not the mania, which can be equally devastating for them in other areas of their lives. ❤ Thank you for speaking out and sharing your experiences, as well as advocating for treating people with MH issues as real people ❤ I don't want that to get lost because I pointed out what being Bipolar was. I just didn't want someone who just struggles with depression and anxiety to think that they are Bipolar, when they may not be.

@@s-s00 I didn't comment expressing my opinion on your MH. I expanded upon/explained the diagnosis that you shared, for others who may read your comment, and then self diagnose themselves, based upon your symptoms. Because that is what people do. You are seemingly taking it personally, when it was not meant as an attack. There's a clear difference between attacking someone and educating someone.

Beyond the other personal things going on it is also a serious consideration that a lot of people don’t understand is that she basically works from home and when you do that and spend a substantial amount of time there you do get cabin fever and need to get out of the house to help reset yourself. The other bs is all on her. Just be real with everyone and you will crush a lot of excess criticism. When I was a teen there was no KZbin and all you had was magazines, billboards, and commercials to advertise makeup and clothing. The vast majority of people didn’t realize all the tricks they were visually using to sell you their products. So you buy products on a wing and a prayer that it would be that magic pieces to help you feel beautiful. Then you would see the results and feel like it is you and nothing you can do will change it. When influencers lie about products they need to understand that they are having a similar affect on some young girl like the lies from the past did on the girls in the past. I thank the stars that a lot of all of the tricks are more common knowledge but it should never be taken for granted.

I don't understand how she's still so popular! You just cant trust her because you never know if her reviews are genuine or an ad and for me I look to beauty gurus for their genuine recommendations not products that are just going to help make them money . She has no integrity!

I sometimes feel bad for her. Like yeah she's a liar and i don't like her but people are WAYY to comfortable disregarding her feelings and speculating on her appearance. It's as if just cause she lied, she's not allowed to be uncomfortable with how people treat her. It's just a little weird to me.

I'm over the accent stuff - I come from Newfoundland we have a very unique way of speaking - I have what I call a for the most part a heavy "social accent" it comes more when you're comfy talking to others who have the same dialect it's how you relate to locals - but I don't speak w it all the time - like it drops when I'm when im being serious or talking to those who don't have an accent. It's turns off and on but doesn't mean it's fake. People really enjoy so newfoundlanders play it up - just like she plays up her Boston accent. If you don't come from a place w a more social accent like that you're just not gonna get it.
