So heres my thing- there's so many parallels and clues and hidden things that have been found to back up byler endgame, and the only mileven endgame we have is that they kissed a few times and have been dating for a bit. I also feel like byler would be better for Will and Eleven both because Will's whole character arch is him never having it good and never getting what he wants, so it would be a great ending for him to get the boy he's canonically in love with and have a great life. El's arch on the other hand is more focused on how strong and independent she is and how Mike holds her back. Eleven also has so much to sort out before she cam have a healthy relationship, and in order to know what she wants, she has to know herself.

I really don't understand how people continue to like this couple when season 4 made sure to make them bland and awkwards af. Eleven's entire story in season 4 is focused around her quest for independence and the fact that she doesn't need anyone but herself. This is vital to the successful completion of her character development. I went from loving Mileven in the first seasons to completely hating it in the last ones cause its obvious how the duffers try so hard to deconstruct their relationship. It annoys me how much people don't understand how characters are written and developed. It pissed me off the way people dwells so little on their psychology. I could seriously write an entire essay on why Mileven is on shaky ground and no longer works like season 1. I don't care who Mike ends up with at the end of the series, I just don't want to not that the characters are put back together incoherently when everything in season 5 tends towards the idea Eleven is finally becoming the person she should be and that this stupid romance ruins everything. And the same goes for Mike who has a lot of potential as a character but who has been stuck with the role of "Eleven's useless boyfriend" for 3 seasons. Anyway, I don't know if this is a breakup scene but I hope so because these two characters are literally stopping each other from growing.

El is hypocritical towards Mike- she says Mike treats her like garbage (s3) while she literally pokes at him and breaks his heart over and over again, treating him like garbage. Not to mention when Mike tries to explain himself or rekindle their spark in their relationship, she turns him down- (“But what if she’s right.” Mike obviously looked hurt in that scene.) That is, until he saves her life from Billy (I believe.) in season four their relationship progressively gets worse as Mike refuses to say he loves her and even seems scared of her in some scenes (like when she hit Angela with the rollerblade).
