Miami Vice episode "Baby Blues" - one of the top 10 episode in the series.

This hit from Mike and The Mechanics was heard on the Miami Vice episode, Baby Blues, which aired on November 21, 1986. Miami Vice will always be one of my all time favorite shows. It was the first to combine MTV with police action drama.

Good stuff for an album over 20 years old. First heard it on a Miami Vice episode with Crockett and Tubbs entering a house to catch a suspect, then the house gets blown up by a bomb.

RIP, Paul! One of the most under-rated voices I've ever come across. What is Mike and the Mechanics without him? I mean, Paul Carrack's voice is great as well, but Paul Young's....

I saw them on the tour for this album during the summer of 1986 at the San Diego County Fair. I love this song. It definitely sounds very 80s but it still holds up well nearly 30 years later.

As I've said on another post, I never realized Paul Young did the vocals on this. I'd always thought it was Paul Carrack, who sang lead on "Silent Running." I have a new respect for Paul Young. Excellent vocals, excellent song ! ! !

Yeah well I bought this album the year it came out. I don't need Miami vice to make it any better. Rutherford wasn't the brains behind Genesis - that was Peter Gabriel - but he wrote some amazing music. And Paul Young is a FREAK - and so is Paul Carrack.

Is it just me, or does this song sound like something a Christian rock band would write? Especially the band Liaison.

Not in lyrics, but in instrumentation.

+Storm Actually, if kind of does. Sounds like a song that would appear on a Kerry Livgren/AD album. His "Art Of The State" album has a lot of echo type songs with keyboard solos that sound very similar. Typical 80's fashion I suppose
