One of the things Mike Breen spoke about in a recent podcast with JJ Reddick made me realize another thing about Breen that makes him so legendary. His silence. Notice how after he makes the official call for a game winner he’ll typically just stay silent and let the viewer hear the arena for a few moments. In such high energy moments to stop and have the awareness to give that moment to the fans and to the viewer just shows his unmatched ability as a commentator

Growing up, my family couldn't afford cable TV, so I had the privilege of listening to Mike Breen and Walt Frazier's play by play on Knicks radio in the mid to late 90s. It's always a bit weird hearing him loan his BANG out to other teams, but at the same time it's cool to see him get the national recognition he deserves. He visited my high school in 1998 for a sports journalism class too. At the time, I was probably the only kid in the class who really knew who he was (because everyone else had cable).

@Jarekthegamingdragon4 жыл бұрын
Of course it is, that's one of the most important shots in NBA history. Far more important than curry's shot.
@jhdivina4 жыл бұрын
Well, that's the most clutch shot in nba history. What made mike breen do the double bang for curry was the hype all throughout the game. Curry messed up his ankle, the warriors miraculously pushed the game to overtime, curry shooting from 35. Ray Allen's shot was incredible, and, again, the most clutch shot in nba history, but curry's was just iconic given the double bang!

The ONE sequence where Pop overthought things .... if SA had put TD21 on the floor for EITHER of Miami's last two possessions in regulation ... TD21 likely would have gotten the ONE defensive rebound SA needed to win that game and the 2013 NBA Finals. but, losing THAT 3-2 lead in 2013 .... is what led to SA's virtoso performance in 2014.
