Wonderful that something like this comes out. Like Mike's narration, he seems like a honest guy. Very funny too.. I've been through pretty much the same thing . Narcissistic psychopaths or sociopaths never realize themselves that they are mental disturbed. Being mental disturbed is normal for them. They are never wrong. If you confront them they become crying three-year-olds and victims who blame everthing on others or on the circumstances. Psychopaths never take responsibility for their actions. They are bullying cowards and backstabbers and really very scared and small people. The best thing you can do is have nothing to do with them and avoid them as much as possible. Cheers!

It's like the scorpion trying to hitch a ride across the stream on the back of the frog, who is reluctant to carry the scorpion, lest he get stung and drown. After the scorpion convinces the frog ("hey I won't, I'll drown too"), he stings the frog anyway. Frog asks why. Scorpion says, "I'm a scorpion, that's what I do!" Babcock is a scorpion. That's who he is.

@TGriffiths-ve6nw
@TGriffiths-ve6nw 11 ай бұрын
Yes, but leverage for what purpose, Certainly not for the good of team-building. It was leverage for the purpose of personal power-mongering by Babcock. What king of personality must a person have to enjoy gathering info on a subordinate in order to bully and intimidate that person? For what reason? What is the end game? Certainly not to develope anything positive. People like that are vile, disgusting creeps and no billshit about "personal growth" or sensitivity training can ever change that. These people can't be changed. They are hardwired for spite and hate.

To those who think the players should have been men enough to just say no: Those kids are 19-20 year olds trying to make a roster and possibly set themselves up for a multi-million-dollar career. They were in a position where they didn’t want to say no to Babcock, and Babcock knows that. That’s how he abused his power. He’s a piece of shit, and there are thousands and thousands of pieces of shit in every business, taking advantage of people who are desperate to move up in their line of work and don’t want to rock the boat.

I can understand how creepy that situation was. I had a maintenance manager once that called me into his office. He knew I walked to work most days, because I lived within a kilometer. He asked which way I walked, and I told him. He brought up google maps, then zoomed in on my house. It's small, 100 years old, in a dungy neighbourhood. He then showed me his house in a ritzy neighourhood. It was completely bizarre. I thought, f*k, if you want to see where I live without showing off, be a decent human and I might invite you over for a beer sometime.

I gotta few things to say, but first and foremost, I WAS NOT A FAN OF PAUL BISSONNETTE until he broke this story!!! With that outta the way, I still may not love the guy, but he put a lot on the line for saying what Babcock was allegedly being accused of. I take back every bad word I've said about Paul Bissonnette (BizNasty) and he earned my respect 100%. On to Boone Jenner... Boone was put into a really difficult spot, I believe JD & Jarmo both urged Jenner along with Johnny Hockey to try and pull the reins in a bit on the story. While it makes me sad to know that they agreed to do it, I do however absolutely understand why they agreed to it. You have to think about the big picture. I'm sure they thought that nothing would come of this accusation (because in most cases nothing does come from it)! So they figured (if I don't do this, I'm gonna be stuck with this asshole of coach that hates me until I get traded or retire). Last part. I love John Davidson, and I think he's a good guy. Jarmo on the other hand I don't think is good for CBJ. I know a lot of fans think he's great but I don't see it. Unfortunately they both need to resign immediately. I won't miss Jarmo, I will miss JD though and I wish him well. They both gave the nod to hire Babcock full on knowing exactly who he was and his track record and when Babcock became a problem they tried to cover it up.

His days are sure over as a coach or anything in hockey that’s straight up weird to go through their phones what was the idea behind that?

Jenner is a beauty, he was put in a tough spot and if he instead said something about it ,but the team decides to keep Babs, Jenner's playing time would be fucked

I gave Babcock the benefit of the doubt. I think that it is possible he was asking players if he could see family photos just to better know them. Very benign mindset. Unfortunately, for about the past 40 years, a person in power needs to consider all of their interactions with subordinates. This is especially true with male bosses and female employees. But the bottom line is, the person in power needs to know these guidelines and be sensitive to them, particularly if the person in power comes in with a dubious reputation.

I started out wondering the same thing, but I have to acknowledge that I have largely had pretty good leaders who do deserve the benefit of the doubt. But after hearing this I think Commodore, as someone who knows how Babcock interacts with players, is saying that the organization clearly does not believe Babcock's actions were benign, despite their earlier attempts at damage control.

@@trentreimer130 I do not know what Babcock's motives were. In today's world, that doesn't matter, at least as far as Babcock keeping his job. A person of power cannot put his charges in an uncompromising position.

What Babs did to Marner was great. Especially the tool Marner turned out to be. He’s the only guy Babs did wrong to that truly deserve it. The worst guy he did was Mike Modano to rob him of 1000 games.

He screwed with Spezza too. He was egotistical, only ever thought of himself, and as such is a poor judge of character. So it wouldn’t matter if someone was shitty and deserved pushback, or was a class act and deserved the utmost respect, Babcock would treat them equally as bad.

Keep it in house I get, but letting this guy in the front door was a huge mistake and I cant imagine anyone is ever going to give him a job again in the NHL..that kind of bullying behaviour to these young kids is unacceptable and I wish someone would have given Babcock a thumping

Jarmo's statement was straight gaslighting. So disappointed. Davidson's seemed much more from the right place. If I'm ownership, after that press conference, I'm firing Jarmo. His comments were BS.

I have to say that i am surprised, shocked and in disbelief that the power dynamics in the league are in such horrible condition in this 2023. I had no idea of the disgusting state of affairs that allows these professional atheletes to allow themselves to work under such draconian conditions. The younger guys should be able to be protected by their older and established teammates. I understand that the young guys who are trying to break into their careers can be subject to intimidation because a coach or manager can end their prospective career on a whim and there is no coming back from that, but for older established players to allow themselves to be intimidated is beyond belief. Even worse is that the older players would stand by and witness intimidation of the younger guys, without stepping in is unforgivable. Take Detroit for example,,, do you mean to tell me that when Franzen was being singled out for gross abuse, his big-name teammates would bury their heads and allow it to happen, We are talking about bigtime well established teammates who have enough rep and power to just put their foot down and say NO! But they didnt did they? What is the dynamic that would allow such blatent violations of morals to fester? I honestly dont understand why grown men would allow themselves to be intimidated by a coach. Its just a coach. They come and they go, and another one takes their place. The power that they appear to have been given by both players and management to rule like tyrants in this day and age is beyond my comprehension. Time for the veteran players to grow a set and defend each other. This is not the 1950s.

I’ve had some coaches that would do some “old school” type stuff to the teams… one specific coach was sometimes manipulative in some strange ways… But the pros far outweighed the cons with him… But Babcock seems like a sociopath
