Jay is the best @ WHAT HE DOES, Nas is the best @ WHAT HE DOES. I prefer what Nas does to what Jay does. I like substance, creativity and improvisation. For me Jay is more concerned with reinforcing a self created identity, selling records and staying in character than expressing genuine thoughts on life, society and the human condition. He's an entertainer first and foremost. Nas has an artistic voice that spans the gamut of experiences and isn't constrained by keeping up appearances.

What people have to realize is Nas is like the John Coltrane of Rap . You have to be “art” driven to stand next to his work . J is like pop star and that doesn’t stand up to true art Fact…………..

"Feeling it" over "take it in blood"? Ain't No way! That's not a diss to Jay because RD I'd classic! But Nas is spitting and that beat is better on "take it blood" in my opinion.
@leroygreen63102 жыл бұрын
One factor people are missing is that Blueprint was more about Jay not being happy with the SOUND of rap at the time so he put out the album full of soul beats as a counter to the other popular sounds at the time in hip hop. That was strategic because Jay knew the power of his influence musically and then after Blueprint you hear soul samples all over the place in hip hop rather then club based records that was dominating in 2000. This is not an accident. American Gangster was Jay proving he's the GOAT end of story.
@jay072619862 жыл бұрын
The reason from beanie mac came out 1st with all the soul samples. A year b4 it was ghostface with Supreme clientele where Kanye based his whole sound on that. But Jay-Z was just a bigger artist than those two.

Blueprint was dope, & it didn't get as much shine as it should have because 9/11 happened the day it came out. Am I the only one that feels like 'Renegade' didn't belong on that album? Don't get me wrong, it's a great song, but it doesn't have the same vibe as the rest of the album. You have all these really soulful upbeat songs with motown samples & all of a sudden you have this dark, sinister, synth-heavy song, it just always seemed out of place to me.

Y'all should have been doing Stillmatic VS The Blue Print obviously considering they came out the same year & both rivaled eachother just because it the beef & that's not even including the two diss records, I'm talking about the albums themselves because of they beef💯 & KD1 stop sleepin on it cuz it blows away KD2 by far💯 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ if u leave off the last two tracks & make "27 Summers" a 5 minute track & saved Queens Wolf as the final track for KD1 rather than release it a year before on "Lost Tapes 2"💯 As far as Best production & Best Tracklists on one album : 1# Illmatic 2# Stillmatic 3# Kings Disease 4# It Was Written 5# Hip Hop Is Dead I would put "Streets Disciple" at 2# or 3# on my list if they would have saved every good track from God's Son & just merged it with Streets Disciple double disc album instead of making them two complete different albums💯 & I'd put "It Was Written" higher if it threw the Sweet Dreams Remix with R-Kelly on it instead of stealing Pacs "All Eyez On Me" beat the same exact year💯 two many samples on that Street Dreams albumtrack💯 Plus add the two unreleased tracks from Dr.Dres Firm album & throw them on "It Was Written" also💯

"Da Introduction" (aka double 9 style) from "E. 1999 Eternal" is the greatest intro track ever along with "the Genesis" intro from Illmatic & "Retaliation" from "The Art Of War"💯 hands down especially for first track intros even if track 1# its not a actual song💯 a intro is a intro & I put the intro track one from the "Adrenaline Rush" album up there too same with the "Picture This" album💯

I been here half they run. There has been no point that this was a Jay channel (which is ok) but worse there's been no point that they mention Nas without mentioning Jay or vice versa. Jay and Rick Ross have more in common musically. Nas is a monotone rapper, a more lyrical Guru I hate the comparison it's lazy and I would listen to them for totally different reasons.
