Went to see him with me mam, dad & little brother at the Newcastle Tyne Theatre when he was at the height of his fame in the mid 80s. I must’ve been about 15/16 at the time. He was absolutely hilarious, and a brilliant musician. Brings back great great memories watching this.

What a wonderful entertainer, i haven't watched Mike for some years now, but have just sat and watched over 5 hours of his wonderful comedy...but damn can he sing a great song too, and what a musician!! This was recorded in Belfast at a time when few entertainers would come to Belfast (and i can't blame them in a way)...good on you Mike, simply brilliant.

The Accrington pals for me is one of the most moving songs that I have ever heard.I am not ashamed to say that when I watched mike perform it at the Apollo in Manchester that it brought me to tears.

I wasn't old enough to stay up late and watch this at the time it was originally transmitted, so thanks for putting this and the other videos online so I can appreciate what I missed out on all those years ago. Very funny, sharp witted performer and I'm enjoying these uploads very much.

Great that Mike's old BBC shows are being uploaded. Loved them when I was a kid and they were shown as regional shows in the NW. Now the rest of the country can enjoy his work

Really? That's great news. Is there any way of accessing it? Also do you know if the Blackpool, Lincoln and Buxton series exist at the Beeb too?

presume you are aware of his appearances on Wheeltappers and Shunters Club? this is where i first heard Mike, and i robbed The Ballad of Manuel and Gladys off him - goes down well here in Canada, amongst my limited audience of three. i thought that was all there was, apart from his records, and how good it is to find your archive. i would like to thank Mike for being there, and for what he does, word fail, simply the best, in every way.

I'm in a comedy folk band called The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican. If it hadn't been for seeing Mike at this very concert aged just five years old I know my life would be very different. I knew even then what I wanted to be when I grew up. I have yet to grow up, but I owe it to Mike.

@@TheBarStewardSonsofValDoonican leaving me even more grateful to Mike - you continue, and expand, in that great tradition. very much blown away at the moment, just found you, and the sons of VD (there has to be a better way to abbreviate your name) and words literally fail, it's taken me twenty minutes to say this much - thank you for being there, and for doing what you do.
