I never gave King Of The Hill a chance until a year after it ended. It's now my favorite animated series of all time and I regret missing all 13 years of it. Thankfully they played it on Adult Swim. The biggest mystery is how would Dale have reacted if he found out about Nancy's affair and Joseph's real father. There are many theories, but no one really knows. A lot of people believe that Dale has always known and feigned ignorance, either because he doesn't want to be like Bill or because being a better and truer dad to Joseph is the ultimate revenge. The only thing that tells me that he really didn't know is that episode where he mistook John Redcorn for a burglar and knocked him out. Once he realized it was Redcorn, he legitimately felt terrible and did everything he could to make it up to him.
@booqueefious22302 жыл бұрын
I didn't get into it when I was a kid growing up on the east coast, but when I turned 18 I decided to move to Oklahoma (which is similar enough to the Texas/New Mexico thing Mike Judge did with KOTH and BnB) And the show really started to grow on me. It started to make sense. It's not really like HAHAHA type humor, but there's definitely some more subtle humor in there, some wholesome moments, and the characters feel like real people. And I'm pretty sure Dale never consciously figured out the Redcorn Connection because his mind was actively protecting itself by ignoring the obvious. Somebody as paranoid and well armed as Dale would have absolutely 💯 gone after Redcorn if he believed there was some weirdness like that going on. He just refused to see it. It really falls on his wife, she might be getting "massages" and working out her "migraines" but it doesn't seem to make her happy, it's just a pattern she got into, and that episode where she "accidently" sleeps with her own husband shows a lot. One of the dirty little secrets of human sexuality is that women want 2 types of man at the same time, a stable provider as a husband and a big beefy bull as a sperm donor. They've dug up old cemeteries in Europe and tested the DNA, something like 25 percent of the kids turned out to have the wrong dude listed as their dad. I know Dale's obliviousness is kind of the joke, but if you want my fan theory, that's what it is. He knows the truth on a deep level but he won't allow those thoughts to come into the front of his mind... because if it did, a guy like him might snap and take out all 3 of them, the kid, the wife, and the boyfriend. He does seem to legitimately care about Joseph
@Chris_P_Bacon622 жыл бұрын
@@booqueefious2230 I'm kinda glad the show decided to keep Dale in the dark, because it keeps us wondering what he'd do. From the writer's perspective, they probably felt that it would change his character too much if he ever found out, or acknowledged it
@buttermellow66672 жыл бұрын

When I was just a wide eyed 18 year old jack pine savage at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, we had a guy in our squad from Florida who looked and sounded just like Boomhauer. The usual melting pot of guys being in effect we had a guy from Hawaii, 2 from Rhode island a guy from southy etc. No one but me could make any sense of his accent. It was a constant laugh. He would look at me and ask me to relate something to them. I would frequently go off on a tangent and this guy would get mad and go on a tirade, which I then would interpret correctly. When provoked, he would spin a yarn of profanity that was laced with some of the funniest insulting observations I can ever recall hearing. One day, on the obstacle course he fell and twisted an ankle. The medics and instructors could not understand him. The senior drill sergeant came and got me to interpret. On the way to where they had him on a bench the d.i. said, I know you are going to want to have some fun with this, but do the right thing. I translated exactly my comrades frustrated answers to the medics inquiries. The first time I heard Boomhauer on king of the hill, I thought it had to be my buddy from boot camp. I still marvel at how much variation there is in American dialects.

@Cody Moe There was an episode of KOTH, in it, you saw things in first person through the eyes of Boomhauer. To him, all his buddies sound like "yalldaggonman...datolHankHillman...daggontellyouwhat". But when his family talk to each other, they sound "perrfectly normal and sloowwww talking."

There is a contractor that shops at my Home Depot that looks and talks just like Dale Gribble. The only thing he's missing is the orange hat and aviators.

Mike Judge is a National Treasure. A great example of how far you can go with natural talent and drive. He made Galifianakis actually, genuinely laugh here. That guy doesn't fake laugh, ever.

The main reason i used to watch King of the Hill was for the 10 seconds of Boomhauer rant once a show.

I’m not sure what’s better here. The way Mike Judge can tell a “story” and make it hilarious, or Zach’s hysterical laughing. Just cool all around. Thanks for posting it.

I moved to Florida from Ohio in 1980, following my parents who had moved here three years earlier. There's a fellow from another southern state who still lives in their old neighborhood who had such a thick southern accent that I could barely understand him, almost a Boomhauer. After all these years, either through me becoming accustomed to his and other southern accents, his accent being influenced by the huge number of northerners here, or probably a combination of both, I understand him perfectly.

Almost impossible not to laugh at this, and at least over 100 people as of 2021 thought it was called Porkie's 'Butthole' as well. I saw another video where Mike Judge further explained that he had the fellas voice on voicemail - took him about a week to figure it out.

Zach gets a big laugh from that well-timed tag on Judge’s story, and then gives Judge an even bigger laugh when he continues. Dang ol’ class act of a comedian right there.
