I heard this song when I was a teenager in 1984 and I fell in love with the singer's voice and wanted to know who she was. Shazam didn't exist so I had to wait until I saw a video on MTV a few years later to find out who owned that voice. I love this woman and she still keeps her talent intact today!!! You can tell Mike was hugely disappointed that they all had to mime to a recording. There's nothing worse, particularly if you're a fantastic musician, than to mime. Shocking they couldn't have set this up live.

Reasonably sure they didn't mind. I don't think artistic integrity is an issue here, l would imagine massive hangovers are the problem here. Any time a musician is stony-faced and wearing sunglasses in a TV studio performance, they 1) were up getting wasted until 2 hours before, or 2) still wasted while taping. Such a difficult job being a pop star, when your job requires you to not be shitfaced 20 minutes a week. My sympathy.

@@geoffreylogsdon162 I've played guitar for over 40 years (played this song in the past many times). That he's miming is very obvious - the intro / 1st few seconds alone gives it away...what you're hearing is at odds with so much of the left hand fingering. He's not even attempting to play that intro lick (Maggie's vocals start & look correct, so there's no sync issue at this point).
