Mike is the most underrated guitarist :( His guitar playing, and his tone are both sensational! He deserves much more credit. Thumbs up if you agree with me.

There are a number of guitarists you recognise from one chord. Clapton, Knopfler, Gilmore, Santana..... All greats. I have Oldfield as ther equal, only he is also one of the gretaest composers as well.

This song will always have such a special place in my heart, it reminds me of the only time where everything was fine and my family was happy, I remember being six years old dancing around my living room with my dad to this song just smiling and laughing while my mom sat on the couch singing along next to my favorite stuffed squirrel. I remember everything about that moment down to the very lighting in the room. Throughout the next 8 years Ive gone through so much physical and mental abuse from my mother and grandparents, my parents split, I tried to take my own life multiple times, I was bullied relentlessly, and so so much more. But even then, whenever I start to feel hopeless I just listen to this song I just cry while dancing around my room remembering that happy moment and I know that if I was happy once, I will be again someday. Thank you so much for this song it has truly kept me going for many, many years ❤

I've been listening to Mike O since 1973, he is 2 years older than me. I've seen him multiple times, even Horse Guards Parade when we were all soaked to the skin but very happy to be there. This album did take a few plays to get to like it. Hope Tubular Bells 4 comes out soon as I'm terminally ill and life is precious.

Michael Gordon Oldfield was born on May 15, 1953 in Reading, England. Already having 10 years and mastered the basics of playing the guitar, he began composing instrumental pieces. With school he resigned at age 14 and joined his sister Sally, who called Sallyangie. A year later, Mike already had his own group - Barefoot whose life did not last long. The next stage in his musical career was his job bass player in the band, Kevin Ayers & The Whole World. While there he became friends with David Bedford. He was encouraged young Oldfield to more composing instrumental music, as it has for this unique talent.Bravo:))

I've read so many mean critiques on this album, but I honestly don't get them! I've read things like "it's time to retire Mike!"... that's so pointless and stupid to say. They clearly didn't understand the spirit and the mood of this album. I think that in his life Mr Oldfield made excellent albums as well as mediocre albums, like every other musician on this earth. The thing is every bloody time they expect the nth Tubular Bells, they don't understand that an artist has to change his way to make music, especially when his career is long. What I always loved about Mike is that he always did it without betraying his way to live his music. He's one of a kind. I love this song, it's one of my favs together with Man on the Rocks, Sailing and Minutes.
