Ya i agree, generally i don't think that's the right spot for anyone, it's more dangerous, usually for less money, but for perry, I definitely think it's a good fit for his specific skill set

Fight science has tested no gloves, mma gloves and boxing gloves to see if 1 is more dangerous than the other and actually it's all about the same amount of force you receive to the brain but in fight science it also said boxing was the most dangerous because it has the most padding thus you are able to receive more strikes to the brain due to the padding protecting the opponents hands and your face this results in CTE and is why boxing has more CTE than mma and bare knuckle. Bare knuckle is probably more safe because you don't have protection on your hands your opponent will break his hands eventually. The gloves only exist to protect your hands and stop cuts, that's why ufc has gloves it's to protect hands. Bare knuckle is safer than boxing with gloves

@@GrowingDownUnder Ya, that's always an interesting topic, I've seen so many different opinions, different research, different conclusions. it's actually funny sometimes, cuz it seems like I've seen the same person give two completely different answers depending on what point they are trying to make. I've seen so many people say that the gloves are to protect the hands and the damage to the opponent is equal, but then I've seen so many analysts/fighters talk about it's a lot different getting hit with 4 oz gloves and a lot easier to get knocked out! Not to say I know better than scientists, but i also try to think about my own experience and i've never got hit with mma gloves but I've been hit many times with boxing gloves and many times with no gloves, and personally I would take getting hit with the gloves everytime! Again, maybe there's something scientific that I'm overlooking, but to me it just seems to make sense that if there's something between the 2 objects absorbing some of the force it would be better for both objects involved. Ive thought about it like this before: have you ever played bloody knuckles where you punch eachothers fists until someone quits. Based on the gloves only protecting the puncher theory that would mean if one person put on gloves, in a game of bloody knuckles then only they would benefit. But imagine if you were playing bloody knuckles with someone, don't you think it would feel a lot better for you if they put on a glove?

@@GrowingDownUnder I do definitely agree with the cte thing, which makes sense looking at retired fighters, but at the same time that seems to not make sense because the theory is that you take more punches because they aren't as effective and it's harder to get knocked out. So if it's harder to get knocked out and you can sustain more punches then it seems like the gloves are sort of protecting you no? Maybe it's a case of they protect you in different ways and the danger you face is different types of danger?

Justin Gaethje gets a performance bonus every time he fights. But he got finished 3 times in his last 6 fights. Yet he headlines cards all the time and makes more money than alot of other lightweights. If you're exciting, you don't have to be the best in the world to be in the UFC. @@tb303wpf1 Yea, and Mike Perry stuck around for longer than most fighters would be allowed because of his charisma. But he had a bad habit of losing and like I said, you can only lose so many times. Conor's last win was in 2020, which isnt an insanely long time ago and Conor is a huge draw cause of his previous success inside the UFC. Gaethje might've lost his last 3 of 6, but Gaethje is obviously a top fighter in his division. Both guys are in very different situation than Mike. Mike just couldn't get much going which is why it was smart for him to move on. Just my opinion.😉
