From my experience, there’s a massive advantage in the fact that Jake has developed his skills IN gloves - the way you move, defend, counter is completely different in the fine margins of the fighting game.

6:09 the punches are not heavier in 10oz gloves the padding reduces the power dramatically. The handwraps are what do the most to reduce breakages and you have hand wraps in modern bareknuckle, the reason why the frequency of brakeages between 4oz gloves back when they would have up to 60 round fights in the 1910s and 20s, did not have any significant decrease when they went to 6oz and 15 rounds (with some longer) or when they went to 8oz and then 10.

You’re misunderstanding what I said. The glove ALLOWS you to throw harder BECAUSE of the cushion of the 10 oz. The knuckles are completely uncovered in Bare knuckle, those are wrist wraps. Contrary to popular belief the glove is more for protecting the hand and reducing cuts, than cushioning blows. The gloves will absolutely allow both fighters to throw harder than they would in bare knuckle. I’ve spoken to MANY bare knuckle fighters about the difference

Perry is tough because he fights bare knuckle, he should be able to take Jake's bigger hits but Jake has been exclusively boxing. The way I see it, Jake pieces Mike up and wins on points. Still more entertaining than Jake vs a 60yo but still below a 5% chance Jake loses. We want 50/50 fights or as close to as possible, not fights that you can almost predict the winner before it happens. Oh well, it is what it is, I'll still watch

Mike Perry's boxing is low level even by UFC standards. He's more hittable than Nate Diaz and just throws wild shots with his chin in the air. His win streak in Bareknuckle is also against very low level competition. His toughest opponent was a 40 year old Eddie Alvarez, and Perry struggled a lot against him. The only thing going for Perry is the fact that his pressure and aggression could be overwhelming for Jake, since Jake doesn't fight well when he's on the back foot due to his terrible footwork.

I think you are underestimating Perry's Cardio, Perry's Power, Perry's resilience, and Perry's CONSTANT forward pressure. there is a reason he is dominant within BKFC and was a PROBLEM for people in MMA even at the top level until he is grounded. Perry is incredibly difficult to finish, he has stupid power, he is fast, good cardio, and more versatile than given credit. If Jake beats Perry IN ONLY STRIKING, this is a big deal. This is Jakes BIGGEST challenge on paper.

To those that say mike perry would take Jake’s right easily clearly don’t understand it is easier to concuss someone w gloves then barefisted. Yes barefist hurts alot more. But the punches w gloves hit more flush. The force transfer is more efficient on the head. Thts why there is more knockouts in boxing then bkfc and ufc. Besides tht those gloves also means the defense game is much easier. I feel if mike ain’t got def bcs so far we just see him mainly evade rather then parry punches. I feel mike would get caught in btwn faster then tyron woodley

Punches don't hurt till way after the fight is over.. Gloves or not.. You will get dizzy/loopy.. but they don't hurt.. Your adrenaline is full on protecting your feeling.. I have been in about 15-20 bare knuckle fights.. They didn't hurt till hours later, it doesn't hurt to get knocked out either.. The only punches that hurt, are body blows.. And the big gloves make those kidney and gut shots do hurt, but not the head or face whatsoever..

Mike DOES NOT need to show more. I did Karate and striking for over 10 years. I am telling you that Mike Perry how he is in BKFC and end of UFC, can beat what we have seen so far in Jake. Perry's aggression, chin, cardio, and power make him an issue. Technique is NOT bad for someone who started striking so late. He is punching this way on the mits purely to excercise, this isnt perry trying his best. Perry is not a mitts guy, and Mitts guys dont always translate to power. He is not trying on the mitts. Mike Perry is an underrated Striker, him beating Luke Rockhold AND Michael Venom Page (MVP) is a MASSIVE deal. Luke KOd Joe Schilling who is a Muay Thai champion and a credited Glory Kickboxer. MVP, although has a notable chin, has an insane kickboxing record as well and is a notable figure in kickboxing. I cant say he will certainly win this fight, but this is a risky fight for jake and his saving grace is his pure size. I guarantee you he is banking on that playing a massive role, but Mike has fought guys who weight around 200+ fight night. Like alone weighs 220 most of the time when he fought at 185.

I think Jake 100% picked this fight because Perry is gonna be a relatively easy target to land on. I thought people were being overdramatic but then watched Perry's fights, he literally does just block punches with his face. It's a bad habit he will bring into boxing and I think the fight only lasts like 2 rounds before Jake knocks him down. I think Perry gets up wobbly and it gets waved off. Don't like Jake at all but I got him winning. this just seems like a very handpicked style match up for jake to keep busy while waiting for the should not be happening mike tyson fight.

Jake has built a carreer on 1 punch in woodley 2 combined with choosing every opponent already on the back nine. Still not impressed and i dont know what would be impressive. Its just 1 older, smaller, retired or some combination of everything. But ill watch it anyway. I guess im just bored. I like perrys attitude but dont really care who wins.
