Nice trap. I just converted my re-catch trap doors to guillotine doors. Being in Texas you might want to consider a round large trap using T-posts or wooden posts. Seems as a rule our hogs in FL are a bit smaller than Texas.

Nice job on the build.. Shovel some dirt ontop of the wire bottom will improve your catch rate..

The Cactoblastis cactorum moth from Argentina was found to fit the bill. Female moths lay eggs on the plant and their larvae eat and destroy it in a few weeks. The moth was released in 1926. Within 10 years, prickly pear had been largely eradicated in New South Wales and Queensland.Aug 1, 2022

not bad , but i would suggest placing in a shady area so the hogs don't over heat during the day , and honestly you could dump the expensive feeder for a 3 inch PvC pipe attached to the back . leave it a few inches off the ground for corn to fall out and pile up.. I've found the best bait here in FL .. if to take the corn and soak it in a bucket of water for a few days (fermented ) It swells the corn, adds moisture for them, easier to digest , and adds a smell that really draws them in. We trap them , clip the nuts on the boars, and feed them for a couple months before we kill and butcher them. really improves the meat

Mike, I am in San Antonio and dealing with a hog problem How much do you charge to build a trap? No feeder required. Jim

I would normally jump on the opportunity but we just moved and I do not currently have a place to do the work. We built a shop but still needs power.

Hi, I'm looking for trap ideas in order to catch Baboons here in Zimbabwe. They are overpopulated in our area & we are trying to capture & relocate them instead of just shooting them. If anyone has any plant they think might work please let me know.

Good job making this video and the strong hog trap Mike. Please don't fire the camera man, it's his first time. Be of good courage.

How much without the feeder
@paxypro17204 жыл бұрын
It would be around $200 in materials.

Don’t mind me saying but... you didn’t have to cut the squares on the bottom, in my limited experience these types of traps works better if you cover the floor with dirt, only juveniles would go inside once felling the metal texture on the hooves, plus the hogs would be able to eat much easier. Another thing is simply by hanging a few leafy branches on the front of the trap would break the straight lines and camouflage a little bit. Nice work on the welding!
@paxypro17204 жыл бұрын
That is sound advice. I learned the hard way about the floor and ended up cutting it out. The camo is a great idea. I'll give it a try.

What's the cost of the trap, with feeder?
@candytits36604 жыл бұрын
The trap can be $100 to $2,000 or more, depending what you want . It's easy to build a cheap trap. Most people hand feed traps, so you don't need a feeder because anything that goes in more than likely isn't coming out.
@paxypro17202 жыл бұрын
It is true what you say about the feeder. The reason I have it is so I can almost predict when I will catch one. I do not live on the property yet. I set a camera by the trap and lock the door open. Once The hogs are consistently going in, I set it on a Friday evening and usually get one Saturday or Sunday.

fyi most traps especially small ones will not work long hogs are to smart for that kinda trapping snares are 100 times more effective ur better off making a big panel trap with 4x4 panels from tractor supply and just put a doggy door so they can root in but cant get bk out u will catch 10 at a time buddy
@robertworon2623 Жыл бұрын
ok trap. too small for my liking. lose the tire. it takes up too much space. pour rotten corn into the trap by hand. use lots. don't be cheap with the bait. that's why you're not catching anything
@philbernardo28733 жыл бұрын
Hogs DON"T like the mesh on the floor they don't like the feel under their hoofs.
@paxypro17202 жыл бұрын
I removed the wire as I found that it also made it hard for them to feed. Thank you for the suggestion.

I’m not sure where you are from, but it’s not very Texas of you to want to kill off native cactus because you don’t like them.

Guy…..you are f$&@‘n up a lot on this video. Bees knees is something good…awesome etc. Deep discing or plowing cactus up. You have to make sure to not bury cactus as it will sprout toots in most soil. Jelly is made from prickly pear cactus fruit. The red fruit. Pads are sometimes sold in Mexican market grocery stores…i.e. Fiesta etc. I have prepared them from the young spring pads….taste kind of like a mix between okra and green beens.

Very true. If you move the trap, they will come back in. At least that is what works for me. I also changed up the feed a couple of times.
