Mike Skeen: Ford GT Le Mans Racecar At VIR

Ride along with Mike Skeen driving a few laps in the former Robertson Racing Ford GT Le Mans racecar during a track day at Virginia International Raceway. These were the only laps I did and just as a demo, so no track records here, but loads of fun. Thank you to 3 Dog Garage for the opportunity!

The confidence and speed you have by lap 2 and 3 is incredible! Its always a challenge jumping into a new-to-you car but you make it look easy. Great drive as always, love watching your stuff.

I have no weird/horrible nickname to give you this time. This looked like an absolute blast! I loved it when you met up with the stock car. He could pull away from you ever so slightly, but he was a bit too ambitious when it came to braking at turn 1.

Ingram Experience events use that paddock because they have smaller groups and it gives everyone a good place to hang out and watch.

I'm so happy this car still gets to be driven. How does it compare to your GT3 rides? More straight line speed I'm guessing?

Very similar. Maybe less straight line speed, but I’d have to double check. More grip. No abs.

Similar power, for sure. Remember this was basically a class higher than GT3 back in the day. The GTE/GTLM cars had more grip.

Cool video as always. Who was driving the #67 Next Gen Cup car? Cool to see how fast it was down the straight, but the GT eats it up everywhere else.

It did very well. Loads of grip. Easily down to a 47. No doubt it could be much quicker with some tweaking and pushing it more.
