It's hard watching Mike here. You can tell his health was bad. He used to be all over the place head banging badass bass player! Before he died, he just stayed and played. I don't think he was ever happy, especially after Layne died. He was just so beautiful. I still go back and watch Mike in Man In The Box video. He was a beautiful badass.

I thank the both of you for going through the trenches with Mike and trying to help him. There is a special place in Heaven for both of you and the countless others who selflessly tried to help Mike Starr over the years. Fly and be free Mikey!!

In this video he's playing either a Gibson Ripper or Grabber, but in his AIC days he was known for playing Spector basses - import model NS-2As in their early days, and far more expensive USA handmade NS-2s.

The last part where u said they have no desire to do so is the most important factor, if they dont have that in the need to stop they wont. They will always find a excuse or be dishonest about it. Sadly it's all up to the individuals need to stop and even then it's difficult, they need to hate the drug with a vengeance. Sometimes they need to hit rock bottom but during their drug use they will never see the damage it causes to those around them or should I say they may see it they just cant connect emotionally

I'm never going to stop trying to titrate off my maintenance meds, but I just don't feel like I'm clean. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Your input is spot on.

@@jessiejeanne9717 no problem sweetheart, I've been "clean" 10 years in July, I say clean with inverted commas only as I've been on methadone that whole time and am struggling to come down. It's a daily grind and I dont feel totally myself on it and feel its brought me down mentally and my confidence has went to shit. I've been on meds longer than my addiction which to me is crazy. I wish I wasnt naive to go along with the doctors choice as I think subs would have been more suited and I wouldnt still be on liquid handcuffs. Wish you all the best and continue to stay strong for your own peace of mind and happiness. On the tough days I try and remember that even if I had a little dabble to block shit out those tough days would turn ten times worse and that just isnt worth it for me as nothing can be as bad as being on that devils shit

@@Nikkimorox1 I agree 100%. The pharm companies knew what they were doing when they marketed oxy's as "non-addictive"back in the '90's. They were going for the long con-get everyone hooked to ensure lifelong customers (not patients). Then of course the casualties who fall through the cracks and get their meds taken away so they're forced to buy heroin. Personally, for me, methadone is the worse of the 2 withdrawals. Suboxone has a very long reduction schedule, but won't let you jump off that last bit, so there will be withdrawals if something else isn't used for the last leg of withdrawals. My dad died of a drug overdose when I was 10 (he lived in Seattle, of course). I think I used the excuse of knowing better and knowing my limits, so I won't get hooked like he did. Wow, what a fucking dumbass I am. I think I even made peace with how terminal this condition is. I really wish you the best of luck. I pray you are able to get off the devil's drug-you know it's bad when the best course of action seems to be to use heroin to get off the fucking medical maintenance drugs! Is Mike Bi-Polar, Schizo, or Psychotic? I am Bi-Polar, and I do not act like him at all. I am thinking he is psycho or schizo. I had to go to a rehab center after a severe depressive episode. My psychiatrist diagnosed me as BP and immediately put me on meds. On this show, most of the residents need to be on meds, and need a nurse to administer them. At my facility, the doors were locked, and there was no tolerance for behavior against the staff. All in all, Dr. Drew is a quack.

this guy's got serious issues beyond drug addiction. he comes off totally psychotic. and no, it's not the detox - it's obvious that after almost 2 months clean he's acting really fucked up with lots of anger issues and other mental problems - the guy needs heavy psychiatric counseling. he can turn his life around for the better, but he has to want to and put some real effort into it. from what i've seen, i think he's a lost cause. no one can reach him. BUT HIM.
