My guess is that immediately after the machine starts "running", the actor playing Mike(and perhaps the huge Wonka bar as well) would immediately slip down the hole underneath the platform, leading down some slide to underneath the stage. See how he's standing with his legs spread out at 0:12? To me, that indicates that platform below him is actually a hole painted to look like it's closed, or that it's actually a cover that breaks through as soon as he stands on it. So, as soon as the lights are off him, that's when he pulls his legs back straight, and goes down the slide. That's what I think anyway.
