I love the song. I love the video. I love every word of this song and all of Michael Rutherford's work. He has done what for most people is impossible: not only contributing a huge amount to Genesis, but also Mike And The Mechanics are genius. Paul Young is really sorely missed by anyone who knows a great voice when they hear one. Paul Carrack is an amazing singer and musician and writer. As I have said in my comment about "The Living Years" Tony Banks was so full of envy at anyone in Genesis who would even write or suggest an idea that wasn't his own that made it that he goes back and trashes their entire output. It's disgusting. He first started with Gabriel and then it was Phil Collins. Tony Banks is a great keyboard player and he did have a lot of good ideas, but he never owned Genesis it was meant to be equal contributions from the start. Tony should apologize to everyone else who was in Genesis. I'm sure he hurt them a lot and maybe if we get a miracle someone will come along like Genesis to make revolutionary music again. I grew up with both The Mechanics and Genesis in the 80s and then got huge into all of it. Something as menacing as "The Knife" and something as beautiful as "Firth Of Fifth" came from the same band. Now you think about that and think about what Tony Banks says trashing all of their creativity. What a jealous childish sod!

This song reminds me of riding in my boyfriend's car freshman year of college. The 80's: when talking was the mode of communication, not texting. Teens and twenty somethings spent their time with other humans, rather than obsessively posting shots on social media looking for adoration. Underneath the big hair, big shoulders, and exaggerated fashion trends human contact was more organic. Music was simply about catchy melodies.
