Male figures at church too guided me so I always say though my dad was mostly absent, I was still raised by good men. And oh my Karate instructor too was a good influence. This broke Mike again but Cus knew Mike now possessed the ability to rebuild himself and Mike has done so. If Cus lived just 5 or 6 more years in decent health, Tyson could've maybe been the CLEAR GOAT.

Imagine all of the potentially great men, who failed to reach their potential, who's names we will never know because chance didn't bring them a man and role model like Cus D'amato.
@Dooger1112 жыл бұрын
This is so true and surreal. How many greats never reached their full potential. Role models/mentors are so damn important

Some who are great don't want to be. "Potential" is a vague term potential for violence is celebrated?

When fire met water and agreed. The world was theirs. So special. I’m just happy I was in my 20s when they entered the arena and I witnessed (on tv) his journey.

As someone who grew up without a father, the way Cus says “I have a deep affection for him, to me he’s my boy; he’s with me.”Then says how Tyson has motivated to live was WILD AND DEEP!

If Cus never passed away, mike would have never lost. That man was the spirit of inspriration. RIP to a real hero.
@travzimmerman1340 Жыл бұрын
No, he would've lost for sure. He ruled one of the worst eras in HW boxing history, mid to late 80s. Mike was obliterated @ the age of 23. Mike was nowhere near as good as Lewis, Holyfield, or Bowe. Mike is criminally overrated by novice casuals. Mike is about 10th all time HW.

Pisses me off that as smart as I am I didn’t see the lesson Coach Joe and Coach Walton were trying to teach me with all that cardio and running they were making me do instead of actually wrestling. They were trying to teach me discipline and my ego and weak mind back than made me miss it. Discipline is the only thing between me and winning it’s always been me vs me. Took me years to figure it out but better late than never bby 💯 thanks coach Joe

Cus's words about Mike giving him purpose to live gave me motivation to change my life so that my parents can see me become successful before they leave this earth. Every parents dream is watch their children become happy successful people. And I believe cus loved Mike like his own son

Cus D'Amato really loved Mike and Mike loved Cus like his Dad. He was a tough guy from the streets too. I hope Mike buys the rights and make a movie about Cus. We were all devastated when he died. 😢

When Tyson passes....he will be at peace. Only then, he has never got over his death. Some people never get over the death of someone so influential in their life.
@iamric232 жыл бұрын
Perfect fit for both people at the right times in their lives. Both would probably had left this earth before their time if they did not cross paths when they did. Instead, they did cross paths and they both created something the boxing world never saw, or probably never will.
